    Having the same problem myself. Tried clearing cache and all other recommendations for failed updates but no joy. Very frustrating.

    scroll to your hard drive an push LB-RB-X LB-RB-X LB-RB-X it will ears the updates so you can update

    I ran a query on that error code and it appears that multiple users had posted threads in the time-frames of 23 Jan 2015 3:47 AM to 23 Jan 2015 10:59 PM. This shows me that the Xbox Live services were down. When another query was ran through the system,
    there was services which were off yesterday. The Microsoft Store was down and other services were unavailable during the time you received this error code.

    Please be patient and wait for the services to become available again.

    what u need is open your XBOX 360 and took out the Hardrive and put USB and confirm it' it should work. Error code 42FE-0000-3080-0300-8B05-0012 :)

    In regards to AdditiveNose318 above, I would suggest that if you require parts of your Xbox to be repaired to take it to authorized Xbox retailers only.
