    Error code 0x87E10007 (Xbox Series x|s Version required)


    With some games in the Xbox Game Pass, the error code 0x87e10007 (Xbox Series X|S version of the game required) repeatedly occurs as soon as I try to play in multiplayer mode with a friend. The best examples of this are Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap.

    What’s strange is that this doesn’t happen the first time we start the game and If WE are Playing alone as a single Player —it works fine initially. However, when we try to play again later, it suddenly stops working.

    We both have Game Pass Ultimate, both use an Xbox Series S, both have the same version of the game, and we are both playing the Xbox Series X|S version. The issue occurs whether we have the game downloaded or play via Cloud Gaming—neither option allows us to play in multiplayer mode.

    Why does it work the first time we start the game but not afterward, and what can we do to fix this?

    Based on the error code, the reason why we're getting that issue because you need to play with your son on Xbox Series X/S console. Your game version may no longer be compatible with his version on Series X/S.

    No. The series X/S version of the game will only work on the Series X or S.

    The only way that would work is if it's a code for the digital deluxe version of the game (which comes with both the series x/s and xbox one versions of the game)

    You will only be able to download the Xbox Series S/X version on an Xbox Series S/X. Do you get an error message when trying to launch the Xbox One version?
