Same hookup as previous xbox one, which handled it fine. Hdmi from xbox to samsung one connect (ks9000 series 4k hdr tv), and hdmi from one connect to Sony receiver (str-1030 model) using ARC.

Also, the Xbox tells me that my TV doesnt support 10 bit but it does.

    :)

    5.1 surround question

Not going to work. The Xbox One currently has zero support for Dolby Digital 5.1/7.1. It only supports Stereo, Uncompressed 5.1/7.1 (which isn't Dolby Digital), and DTS Digital Surround over HDMI. Your headset doesn't accept DTS and optical cannot support
    uncompressed 5.1/7.1 (not enough bandwidth).

It's best to wait for Dolby Digital support to be added. It's coming.

  3. Dolby Digital decode & audio options

It does or at least the next update does.

    Settings-->Display & sound:

    - Digital Audio:

    1. HDMI audio (stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, Bitstream out)

    2. Optical audio (Off, Stereo uncompressed, Bitstream out)

-if u select Bitstream out (DTS Digital Surround, Dobly Digital)

Thank you but of you look at the dates they're all from 2013 with old xbox one. I have a one S. There should be no reason why it won't let me select 7.1.

If you connect the Xbox directly to the TV do you have any issues ? Looking at the Sony website that model receiver doesn't support a 4k passthrough. There was a firmware update way back in 2014, it may be worth just checking that your receiver is fully
    up to date.

I am now having the exact same issue as the above with the one-S; however mine worked fine until last night and now wont allow me to select 7.1 and for some reason deleted the Yamaha device attached to my oneguide. I reinputted the device, but am now having
the same problem. Now audio from my TV or received for TV, everything seems to work fine outside of TV.

Error code 0x80bd0009. Xbox One S. Cannot select 7.1 or 5.1 uncompressed, only stereo.

Has anyone had any luck with this? As stated in the first post, the Xbox is plugged directly into the tv. The issue isn't the video. It's the fact that I cannot select 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed as an audio output. I know the receiver supports it, as that's
how I had my previous xbox one.

    Hey Physh1078 -

Have you checked to be sure that your TV's firmware is fully up to date? Also if you disconnect the receiver, are you able to select alternate audio outputs?

Let us know. Error code 0x80bd0009. Xbox One S. Cannot select 7.1 or 5.1 uncompressed, only stereo. :)

I have the same issue with my LG smart TV with an onkyo 7.2 receiver using arc.

I was given my Xbox one S for my birthday a couple of days ago. I wanted to use it to replace the LG 3D Bluray and AStone media centre.

With the LG Bluray plugged into my TV I can set the LG to pass the audio raw and the TV passes it directly via ARC to my Onkyo and gives me 7.1 off bluray discs.

Now if I try with the Xbox One S, I can either choose stereo uncompressed or Bitstream with Dolby Surround, however I do not get 7.1 and I am told my received does not support 7.1, which it does via arc as per the previous setup using my LG Bluray and my
Astone media centre, both of which I could set to passthrough and the ARC would do the rest.

If I connect the Xbox directly to my Onkyo I can select 7.1 uncompressed.... I do nto understand why the Xbox forces you to use what it "thinks" your system can support. The LG smart TV can passthrough 7.1 even though it is a Dolby surround device. PLEASE
make the option to either passthrough the stream without checking the attached device or offer the option to authorise the change despite what the box "thinks" it can do.

  11. Did this ever get resolved? I have the original Xbox One and after a recent update it won't let me go back to 5.1 uncompressed. I've been running an Emotiva UMC-1 surround sound processor this entire time, and the latest update appears
to have killed the ability to use 5.1 uncompressed. Like you said, it probably now "thinks" my processor can't handle what it's been doing for i don't know how many years now. The frustration level is growing as i type this.
