error code 0x80820002

Whenever I try and launch any of my disc games, I get this error code, I think something is wrong with my console and I contacted support (which was no help at all) and I am not really in the mood to use my xbox one as a $500 netflix device...

Can't Download Disc

Same for me today. I can't even insert a blu Ray. Everything was fine until the last preview update I see went live last night. WTF?!?!?!?

 

Same thing happened to me. Looks like a growing issue that us gamers have to fork over more of our money to have fixed. Cost about 135$ to get it fixed. Thanks Microsoft

Sorry to hear about the 0x80820002 error code issue, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. If you haven't already, I recommend trying the following steps:

• First, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
• Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
• Power on your console and try playing a disc game.

Give the listed steps a try and if the issue continues to occur, I recommend setting up your console for repair. You can request a repair a through our Online Service center. If you experience any
issues setting up a repair, you can reach out to phone support from our Contact Us page for further assistance. Once again, I am sincerely sorry to hear about the issue and any inconveniences this may have caused.

 

Ok so the exact same thing is going on with my console. I think the issue started with the latest update that gave us the transparent tiles and such. I didn't realize it is such widespread. I really don't want to ship my console and get it fixed; I hope
they figure it out and fix it via a software update.

 

This is what worked for me, at least for right now:

1) Power down the console and disconnect the power cord.

2) Disconnect the external hard drive.

3) Press and hold power button for 30 seconds (count 1-30 slowly?)

4) Wait 2-5 minutes.

5) Connect power back and power on the console.

6) Use "Restore factory defaults" and restore to default settings.

7) Use a blu ray disc to check and play blu ray disc (may require you to re-install bluray app).

8) Replace the blu ray disc with game disc and install/play the game.

9) Hope it works. =)

 

I hope the above method worked for you guys, let me know if it did. It was suggested to me by a dude I know (GT: Ultimate Namor). He's helped me before with XBOX troubles.
