Error Code : 0x803f8001 (Do you own this game?) for Game Pass games.

Just do one or all of the following to see if it works.

• methods to fix “Do you own this game or app?” (Error code 0x803f8001)” error on Xbox console
• Option 1. Power cycle Xbox one
• Option 2. Perform hard reset
• Option 3. Clean Windows Store cache
• Option 4. Set home console
• Option 5. Clear persistent storage data

Same here, not working, when i click on the game it come up with Do you own this game or app? error code 0x803f8001.

Hey all!

So these two games ('Mortal Kombat X' and 'Life Is Strange') were working properly until yesterday, when i started to get the Error Code : 0x803f8001 (Do you own this game?)message. Both were downloaded via Game Pass around a week ago.

I saw in the pinned thread that there is a general similar issue, however it only mentions about recent digital purchases (and to check if the online transaction was completed), so not sure if it includes the Game Pass available downloads.

As i checked both games are still included in the Game Pass.

I have a valid Ultimate subscription.

Troubleshooting i tried:

-Checked if Xbox Live Services are UP.

-Checked if my account is properly signed in.

-Signed out and the again in with my account.

-Restarted my Console.

-Checked that my Console is my "Home Console" device-Did a hard restart on my console (pulling the plug out etc)

-Did a soft reset (Reset console > but kept installs etc)-Uninstalled and redownloaded the game (only redownloaded Mortal Kombat X tbh)

-Did a factory reset. (Reset console > Reset and remove everything for a full factory reset)

Nothing of these worked.

Is anyone else having the same issue? Any suggestions on how to solve it?

Seems that you already tried every single solution.

Have you the games installed on the local drive? -> Try to move it on an external HDD

Or have you games installed on an external hdd? -> Try to copy back to the console HDD

Try this because at the moment the only ideas I have are hdd related or an Xbox Live problem that is not published in the Xbox Live Status page yet.

I was informed that both games are removed from the Game Pass list of free games. So, that's the reason of the error message.

(They do however appear in the Game Pass list, guess it isn't still updated or something?!)

Had the games on external HDD.

After i uninstalled, the new download was in the internal HDD. Didn't work.

I copied the new installation to the external HDD, still nothing.
