Error Code 0x800704cf when signing in to x box

Recently changed network providers from sky to talktalk.

No issues for a week with wifi etc, then suddenly yesterday, my son comes across this error code when signing in.

i check internet connection -fine. I even disconnect internet and start again with xbox, just to be sure. Still showing error code when signing in.

i then bring xbox downstairs so its next to router. Still showing error code.

any ideas? School holidays and its raining... you can imagine what its like in my house! Help!

You can try plugging the Xbox into the router via an ethernet cable. If that doesn't work, you could try doing a hard reset of the Xbox by holding down the power button for 10 seconds until the Xbox completely switches off.

This was taken from a thread years ago from someone who encountered the same problem 'Turn your hotspot and sign into your account on the hotspot then plug in the wired network you want to use while the
hot spot is still on and you are still signed in. Then the xbox should automatically connect to the wired connection and you can turn of the hotspot and play on the wired connection.' You could try this. Whether its reliable, I don't know but you never
know if you don't try.

I've had a very similar issue trying to sign into my account for several days. Though when I try, I get error code 0x800704cf.

After further research, we were able to check an anwer in the community who got 53 positive votes from other community members. Here's the method "What you have to do is skip the sign in part. The easiest way to do this is if you have a phone with hotspot turn that on and sign into your account on the hotspot then plug in the wired network you want to use while the hot spot is still on and you are still signed in. Then the xbox should automatically connect to the wired connection and you can turn of the hotspot and play on the wired connection"
