Error code 0x3ec, and I'm unable to sign in

    Hello,

Thanks for your time. I'm having an issue reliably signing into my Xbox account on my Windows 10 PC. I can sign in from my phone, and my Xbox One easily, but both the Windows 10 Xbox App, and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition fairly consistently give me
    login errors.

When I attempt to login in, I select my Xbox account, then it asks for my password, I enter this, the window spins, and then it asks me to reenter my password. At this point, 1 of 3 things happens:

I enter the password, and then I am taken back to the same reenter password page.

I enter the password, and I am logged in, but when I click, "let's play" I am given error code 0x3ec, and the app closes.

I am logged in, and can play Minecraft, but the Xbox Windows 10 App will frequently still crash after successfully logging in.

I've tried some of the common fixes I've found, such as checking your timezone, but have had no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

    Hi,

An outdated version of the Xbox app, the game, and the Windows 10 OS are possible reasons as to why you're encountering issues with signing in to the Xbox app on Windows 10. Since you can access your Xbox Live account on other devices, that means there's
no issue with your Xbox profile. To resolve this concern, kindly perform the following troubleshooting solutions:

Solution 1: Run the Windows apps troubleshooter

The Windows apps troubleshooter can help resolve issues with apps downloaded from the Windows Store and Windows 10 built-in applications. Click this

    link
    to proceed.

    Solution 2: Check for updates

Refer to the following links for the steps on how to keep the Windows 10 OS and the game up-to-date:

Solution 3: Reset the Xbox app

Resetting the Xbox app from the Settings menu can help resolve corrupted app data. Here are the steps:

    1. Click Start and click Settings.
    2. Select System.
    3. Select Apps & features.
    4. Find the Xbox app and click Advanced options.
    5. Click Reset.
    6. Restart your device so that the changes can take effect. Sign in to the Xbox app and check if the same issue occurs.

Keep us posted with the progress. We'd be glad to further assist you.

Hello there, I appreciate you taking the time to read through and answer my question.

I have actually tried the Microsoft App Troubleshooter before to try and solve this question, and I am unable to run it. The app gives me the error "Microsoft account required." In fact, pretty much none of the account features work
on my Windows 10 machine. I can't add accounts, change to local user, or interact in any way with any of the settings under "Change Account Settings." So this problem is obviously more severe than I had previously thought. My PC should be up to date with Windows
updates, as I have it set to automatically download and install updates for me, but I checked just in case, but I don't think the Windows update feature is working for me either, as the windows says "Checking for updates" and has done so for almost an hour
now. I checked the changelog, and it seems to be installing updates as normal, as the last update was performed on August 9th, 2017.

So it seems there's either a grave error with this instance of my Microsoft account on just this PC, or my Windows 10 installation is corrupted.

    Hi,

As we thoroughly reviewed your conversation with the previous support, this proves that the issue has something to do with the corrupted user account data. For us to isolate the issue, let's create a new user account by following the steps provided on the
    link below.

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

If it works using the new account, this indicates that this is caused by a corrupted user data. We suggest transferring your data to the new account. Here are the steps:

    1. Press Windows + X keys.
    2. Select File Explorer.
    3. Choose This PC and double-click Local Disk (C.
    4. Click Users.
    5. Copy all the folders inside the old user profile to the new user profile.
    6. Restart your device and sign in to the new user account.
    7. Check if you can see all the files you've copied. Your new user account should look like your old one. However, you'll need to change the desktop background.

Notify us with the results, so that we can assist you further.
