    Error 8016fe6d

    Hello,

I have been trying to move my gamertag from 1 microsoft account to another for a couple off months now. Both had a gamertag so i followed the manual to move the gamertag from 1 account to a dummy account. 30 days later i try to move it but still get an error
that it can't change at the moment. So yesterday i was going to give it another try. Atleast now i am getting a different errorcode. That is errorcode 8016FE6D, after contacting xbox live chat and following every step he wanted me to do (there was €0,52 left
on the account with the gamertag attached) he told me we did everything he could do and that i could contact MSA support and they could help me further.

So i contacted them and withing 5 min they told me they could do nothing and i should contact xbox live support... After telling her that i just did that and they directed me to them she told me they could manually transfer the gamertag for me.

So today i called xbox support and told them above story and he checked the accounts for me. Nothing wrong with the accounts and asked if i could try again. So i did and still the same error. So he asked his supervisor and just told me that there was just
something wrong with the account where the gamertag has to be moved to and that they could do nothing for me. And after asking if they couldnt manually move the gamertag for me he told me there was no such tool (and the chat support said there was).

Is there anything that is possible for this or do i just have to make a new gamertag?

    Michael

    :)

If you cannot change the email address associated with your gamertag then perhaps one of the issues listed at the top of the article applies to you. You can either check this at commerce.microsoft.com or contact phone support for more assistance. If you
live in North America dial 1-800-469-9269

I'm having this same issue. It took me many different techs and hours, but I finally got it escalated to T3 support. I'm waiting on a callback now. I'm really hoping they're able to solve it. There are numerous posts about it across these forums. It appears
it might be a problem related to having a personal and business profile under your MSA. You can check it this is true for you at commerce.microsoft.com. Dropdown in the upper right.

  7. This does sound like a technical error. Am I to assume you want it linked to a dummy account because you want to associate your current gamertag with a Microsoft Account?

I do see lastly "should I make a new gamertag" tells me that yoou just want to free it up to use a different Microsoft account on the current gamertag. This may be an ideal solution or it may not. Here is an alternative option if it's just using a different
e-mail address. Feel free to message back and give me some more information as to the reason you want to swap them round as there might be other options you could try, but for now look below to see if this might be a possible resolution.

*PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO VERIFY SECURITY WITH A SECURITY CODE

    Managing your Account Name/Aliases

    Step 1. Visit
    account.live.com/.../Manage

    Step 2. Add Alias

    * Your account can have multiple aliases, each of which lets you sign in to all the devices and services that use Microsoft account. Your aliases share a single password, and you can send and receive emails with each.

Step 3. Enter in a username before the @outlook.com you wish to create and click 'Add Alias'

Step 4. Once it is created you should see an option to make that Microsoft Account the primary.

    * Once it is set to the primary alias you will have to option to either keep or disgard the current Microsoft Account name. Please note when your new one is set to the Primary that will show as your current E-Mail address on the Xbox 360 console under your
gamertag, and you should be able to sign in to both accounts using both e-mails with the same password.

I hope some of this information was of some use, and if it isn't a solution you are looking for the best advice would be just to wait until Tier 3 Support contacts you back regarding your case.

All the best, let me know the outcome!

    Regards,

    Daniel
