Error 14 day Xbox Live Gold Trial

I bought the Xbox One. Created an Microsoft account. Entered the 25-digit code for a 14 day Xbox Live Gold Trial. When I trie to play online I get the note 'The current profile is not allowed to play on Xbox Live'. What am I doing wrong? In the meantime
7 days have already been expired from this Trial.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems using your Xbox Live Gold trial. What game are you trying to play on the Xbox One?

I have two suggestions to try. One is to clear your cache and then after to delete then re-download your profile and see if that fixes the problem.

1) clear the cache on your Xbox One by powering down your console, then unplugging the power cable from the back of the Xbox One. Wait for two minutes, plug the power cable back into the back of the Xbox One, and watch the power box, wait for it to
cycle from a white light to an orange light, and then turn the power on your Xbox.

2) Then try deleting your profile from the Xbox console and re-downloading it again. Here's how to delete it:

Then re-download your profile, here's how to do that:

Try those steps, then try paying the game again and let us know what happens.

I had the same problem. Microsoft doesn't appear to be honoring these promotions. I chatted with tech support and was told that the code I entered was only good for the game that it came with, but the code came with the console, and the card said it was
for live gold, not any one game.

I know its a free trial, so we're not out anything, but this doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their subscription system.

i have the same problem today. the code came with the xbox one x. after the code input came the confirmation.

But nothing happens, no live no gold no trial

I understand that a xbox game pass 14 days trial code or a xbox live gold 14 days trial code can't be used/sold as xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial code for sure.

Because a 'xbox games pass ultimate 14 days trial code' equals a 'xbox game pass 14 days trial code + xbox live gold 14 days trial code', so for new Microsoft/Xbox accounts, a 'xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial codes' could be used/sold as 'xbox game
pass 14 days trial code' or 'xbox gold live 14 days trial code' , right?

Please help to clarify.

if u buy a xbox console then u will get given a 14 day free trial but xbox dont give away 14 days free trial for xbox live gold

that is why unable to get the backward compatible games. They will not work with the 14 day trial unfortunately. In this link

describing Xbox live gold there is a section explains the trials.

With an Xbox Live Gold 2- to 14-day trial, you can get Xbox One Games with Gold, and discounted Gold deals.

If it was a one month trial you could get the backward compatible games.

just purchased the tomb raider 1tb xbox one bundle, which comes with a 14 day xbox live gold trial. it actually says "activate your 14 day xbox live gold trial." i am having the same issues. cannot dl free games, yet able to chat. if i try to dl a free game,
it wants me to upgrade to gold. WTF? it says live gold trial! explain that!
