    Error 101, 102 and 105


    I have been receiving these error codes in attempting to apply recent updates. It fails to update, and then sometimes fails to boot.

    The xbox chat help suggestion is that I need to send it in to have it serviced... to the tune of $270. No thanks.

    I can't get anyone on the phone.

    The gamestop dude said Microsoft "locked" the xbox, which he said happens when someone attempts to hack into them. That doesn't seem likely. I think my hard drive is fried.

    Are there any other options? $270 to repair a system that isn't that old, that seems to have just had a glitch, seems really steep when a new one costs $360ish.

    System Update Failure

    OSU is entirely useless, and, triggers the E100/101/102/105 loop. The only way to break the loop to at least get back to the first time set up process is to leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes.

    Hi Mr Reay,

    Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums! We understand this can be confusing and even frustrating. We want to help as best as possible!

    I would recommend trying to do an Offline System Update since the system keeps showing the

    error codes 102 and 105    .

    Check out the following in order to
    perform the offline system update    . This will walk you through the whole process.

    You will need at least a 4GB USB Drive and a PC. Let us know if you have any question about how to complete the process :)

    My xbox one x which i bought recently turns on then goes straight to the troubleshooting menu then i reset to factory settings then freezes and goes into a cycle from turning on then not even powering on and it is just not usable right now and it
    keeps giving me these errors i have tried to follow troubleshooting steps on the Microsoft website but it has not helped, If anyone has any tips or tricks to fix this please get in touch. Many Thanks
