    Hello,

    I've bought and installed some games on PC from steam and every time I tried starting it up I keep on getting the same message saying, "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.". I've looked everywhere from YouTube to Google and have still been unable to solve this issue. I've been stuck on this issue for a few days and I'm starting wonder, is there is any way I am able to fix this?

    No problem, I can advise you another two things that you can try.

    But if the issue persists you may need to reach Steam support or the developer directly

    1. Run the SFC tool to find and repair possible system corruptions

    Hello,

    To answer some of your questions:

    1. This is on Windows 11

    2. I've bought around 4 games from Stream already and I'm only getting this error on 2 of the games I've bought (both of those games being Rust and Dead by Daylight). Every other game I have comes from either Epic games or Riot Games and they work completely fine.

    3. Some of the things I did to try to fix this was checking for updates on either steam, my drivers, or Windows itself. I also tried to run it as administrator but that didn't work either. I backed up the game files and verified the integrity of the game files but still nothing. I also made both of the games as exceptions on my antivirus. Then I ultimately tried deleting and reinstalling the games but I still kept on receiving the same error.

    In order to isolate a bit more the issue please answer the following questions :

    Is this happening on Windows 10 or 11?
    Is this happening only with Steam games? If you can, please test with a game from the Microsoft Store / Xbox app (could be a free one)
    And, please tell me briefly the troubleshooting steps done from your side
    In that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

    Thank you for all the help but unfortunately it is still not working. I have someone coming in to take a look at my computer to see the problem soon. I was just wondering if for the 3rd option, is it possible for me to be able to revert back to windows 11?

    More specific to Change security folder settings:
    “1. Find the game folder (usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\xxxxx)

    2. Right click on the game folder, select Properties and go to the Security tab

    3. Click on Edit and give all groups and profiles Full control

    4. Click on Apply and go to Advanced

    5. Click on Change right next to the Current owner

    6. Type in your pc's User Name and verify the name

    7. Click on Apply and Close the window.

    Or, what about installing the game on a different hard drive?
    If you only have one drive/partition
    Try creating a new NTFS partition and install the game there
