Error 0x80820002 - PLEASE DON'T SEND XBOX ONE FOR REPAIR/EXCHANGE!

Hi everyone!!

Same issue. I don't want to return my console and wait 2 weeks (I bought it online) for a problem that probably went fixed soon.

News about that, anyway?

 

@chin5an what's your advice? Exchange the console? I'm actually on time...

i would hate to wait for 2 weeks to get a exchange (plus not guaranteed success). If i can drive down there and get a new one, i will do it right away...

myself is in the worst case of this problem...i brought the console from US to oversea, just opened it 2 days ago and this *** happened...which means it will be my very last option to get it shipped back and exchange... what shall i do....? will MS pay the
shipping?

i can only count on a online solution man...

 

The only solution that works right now for sure is to exchange it or turn it in. I went through four separate exchanges, but my new console works perfectly. There are two new updates that fix the problem, but my understanding is once the defective update
is on the system, they can't overwrite it and the factory restore isn't really a factory restore (it still keeps the latest update).

 

Guys i had a chat wit MS about this issue. They told me to send it back, they will replace it. THat doesnt cut for me, im from Argentina, so i asked them if i should wait for a patch in the coming weeks, they told me that there will be future updates and
that this issue will be adressed there too, but that they are always open to change the console since the error is coming from them.

I asked them if i should consider my xbox bricked and he said that that is not the case. It will get new updates and hopefully this issue will be resolved in the future. I guess i just have to wait, but for me, that is not the problem, a problem would have
been send it back. Its a *** disapointment nonetheless. (sorry about my english)

 

I had the same problem (would not play games off disc). I tried all of Mister Quimby's suggestions, but nothing worked. I exchanged mine last night and it is working. The issue is the Update they rolled mid-August out bricked new consoles. Once the console
gets this error there isn't much you can do (maybe check Transvert's workaround as a last resort).

They have since fixed the update so if you return/replace/exchange (where you bought it, not "repaired" through Microsoft) your xbox it should work now.
