Error 0x80820002 - PLEASE DON'T SEND XBOX ONE FOR REPAIR/EXCHANGE!

Hi Xbox One gamers!

Thought I'd post this to let you know that if you are getting this error; 0x80820002 which cause games disc's to be unplayable, then don't listen to Xbox Support as majority will request for the Xbox One to be sent in for repair or replacement. This is not
the case. The culprit seems to be the August 2014 update which has caused problems. If this is the case (when we hear back from IGN or Microsoft), all I can say is how on earth did this pass testing? The person or the team in charge of this August update for
Xbox One needs to be sacked.

There is a forum member by the name of Mister Quimby who seems to be spamming the forums with the same message. I would like to make this clear please do not send your device in for repair/exchange to Microsoft or local retailer. When you get the replacement
one for example from retailer same day/next day you will still face the same problem (not unless Microsoft releases a new update which fixes this). Mister Quimby is just making things worse for Microsoft, your just making the service get full with pointless
repairs!

I will update this thread once I hear more information. Feel free to update this thread guys!

Same as i thought Mister Quimby is joking but will ms be adressing this issue or look the other way? 2 days now and cant play.

 

I just recently spoke a Microsoft support staff (who actually knows what's going on maybe?). He stated that the engineers are working on a fix and should be available in the next 24-72 hours. Fingers crossed.

 

hey look this bloody rubbish I have got through 8 consoles in the last week because of this rubbish put a bloody patch out all ready

Yeah, I'm in Brazil and it's also going on down here, I turned on my console for the first time on Monday night and after the update kept getting the same error code and after calling support they told me the same thing yesterday, that they would release
an update within 24 to 72 hours. Fingers crossed this thing will work out!

 

Hey, guys! First, I'm sorry to see that you're affected by this error! We suggest taking the console back to the retailer for an exchange. If that one doesn't work, then please set up a repair through us. You can do so by using either the Online
Service Center or by contacting support. This is the
only and official way to get rid of the error code if a replacement console from the retailer has not resolved it. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

Don't have a single idea. I believe I have done nothing wrong. They removed me from the Xbox Ambassador then so be it, not my loss. End of day it just makes my view on Microsoft much more clearer.
