Error 0x80070057 when installing games through Xbox App PC

    Hi,

I have been having an issue with the Xbox App on PC. I have three physical drives in my system and all three are displayed as options when I want to download a new game. However, on one of my drives the Xbox App refuses to download or install anything, it always gives me the error 0x80070057. When selecting one of my other drives, it works perfectly fine. I have tried a lot of "solutions" found on the internet and after that did not resolve the issue I even reinstalled Windows 11 (clean install) but it still gives me this error. I should tell the problem created itself, I was able to install games on this drive before but suddenly no more.

I have no issues installing anything on this drive through other programs like Steam.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

You must format the drive that has the issues an set the file system to NTFS

Hi Nick-_058! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

    Please try this

In the file explorer go to the disk with the problem and look for a folder named "WpSystem" (If that folder isn't there, then this solution will probably not help you)

(it is located at the same tree level as "Program Files")

Delete or rename the WpSystem folder

If this doesn't work try to change the letter assigned to that disk with the disk manager

You can also try to install on a different drive and then move the games to a different one

To do this, head to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Click an app and click the “Move” button. You'll be prompted to select another drive, and you can then click “Move” to move the app to that drive. If you see a “Modify” button instead of a move button, you've selected a traditional desktop app.

    Hi Ricardo,

I have checked both these settings in the services and registry and they are set to Manual and 0 by default. Is there anything else I can try?

    Thank you.

Make sure it's service is not disabled:

    1) Type Win+R and type in services.msc and hit enter

    2) Scroll down to Encrypting File System (EFS) and double click it.

    3) Make sure it's "Startup type" is set to Manual. Click Ok.

(You do not need to start it at this point)

Make sure it's not disabled in the registry:

    1) Type Win+R and type in regedit and hit enter

    2) Expand to the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

    3) Ensure that on the right side "NtfsDisableEncryption" is set to 0

    4) Reboot your PC

    Hi Ricardo,

many thanks for your reply. I have tried these possible solutions you mentioned:

In the file explorer go to the disk with the problem and look for a folder named "WpSystem" (If that folder isn't there, then this solution will probably not help you)
(it is located at the same tree level as "Program Files")
Delete or rename the WpSystem folder

    >There is no WpSystem folder on this drive

If this doesn't work try to change the letter assigned to that disk with the disk manager

    > Done but has not solved the issue

To do this, head to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Click an app and click the “Move” button. You'll be prompted to select another drive, and you can then click “Move” to move the app to that drive. If you see a “Modify” button instead of a move button, you've selected a traditional desktop app.

    > I have tried this with a game downloaded through the Xbox App to one of the drives that do work, but it gives me the error 0x80073d0b when I try to move it to the drive with the issue
