error 0x8007001f when installing games

I was going to try the xbox game pass beta on my pc.

Never had an issue with Steam, nor GOG or any other storefront for games.

Downloaded the xbox beta.

All the games I tried required admin access.

I got the 0x8007001f error on everyone of them.

I made sure I had latest windows update

I made sure I had latest drivers

I rebooted several times

reinstalled xbox beta

I googled and got a bunch of different solutions, and none of them worked.

Checked that my user is indeed admin as well (both login on computer and the windows account itself in family settings)

I will clearly not renew my subscription to such a crappy service that can not even install a single game.

It seems to have been a problem for many people for a long time, so why is there no fix yet?

I also tried everything and nothing was working. Then found that from a guy named Fernando:

“This error appears to me too, the store downloads about 900mb and then when try to install it failed. Here to solve this problem i wait the store to download, when the error appears maintain store open, then right click in my computer and them click on manage. On the new windows click on manage disks, this shows your disks, you note there's a tiny disk (about 1gb in size), it's a virtual disk but it's offline, simple right click on then and bring this disk online. Seconds later windows throw a notification about flight simulator is installed, from this point is only open the game to install the rest of data.
Hope this helps all here.”

I tried with a game, downloaded it, error appeared, i downsized the xbox window, clicked “retry” in the xbox app and a temporary disk appears in the disk management window, i right clicked on this disk and put it online, then the game worked.

Tried so many other things (deleting audiodrivers and a bunch of other stuff), but this one actually works!

Seems like the download creates a virtual drive for the game and then it can not open the drive due to lack of permission, but when brought online it works.

It seems we are not the only ones (and Bandido1508 copy/paste the answer) :

And updating does not seems to fix the problem.

I really don't think the windows link given above are the right solution, as this is a generic windows error code (why would audio driver block Xbox games from installing... ?)

In fact it seems that this is more a not-being and Administrator account problem :

And apparently, if Windows 10 system resides on an external hard disk it somehow messes up the installation process for "Administrator approval required for installation" games (Error 0x8007001f
with Xbox Game Pass PC).

At the moment, in my case, it seems there is no solution to this problem :-(

I can't change my install (I moved Windows 10 on an external USB drive as I wanted more space for OSX on my laptop).

I have to wait for an update of XBox app if any.
