Solution 1:

Run Fix it (automatic fix tool) to fix application issues via the link below:

Then clear the Store cache following the steps below:

Simultaneously click on the Windows + X keys;

In the options that appear, click on Command Prompt (Admin);

At the Command Prompt screen type wsreset.exe and press Enter;

Restart the computer.

Solution 2:

If you have an antivirus installed or more than one, I suggest you to uninstall it through the Control Panel in the Programs and Features icon or temporarily disable it through the antivirus's own settings.

Note: Many antiviruses have their own removal tool. Visit the Installed Software website for more information. Your system will not be unprotected as Windows has its own security system that automatically enables as soon as you restart your computer.

Solution 3:

Disable all third-party programs, ie Clean Start, to see if any of the programs installed on your computer may be causing this behavior.

For clean boot follow the steps below:

On the Desktop, press the Windows + R keys simultaneously to open Run;

In Run type MSCONFIG and click OK to open System Configuration;

On the Services tab, check to Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable All;

Click Apply and OK;

Restart the computer.

NOTE: This procedure disables all third-party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, selectively, instead of keeping them all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

Clean system temporary files:

On the Desktop, simultaneously press the Windows + R hotkeys to open Run.

Now type TEMP and click OK.

Solution 5:

Run System File Checker (SFC.exe) to search for and fix corrupt files:

Simultaneously click on the Windows + X keys;

In the options that appear, click on Command Prompt (Admin);

At the Command Prompt screen type SFC /SCANNOW and press Enter (this procedure will take a few minutes).

After running this tool, a report will be presented with the files corrected or not.

Solution 6:

Create a new user account and check the behavior.

To create a new account follow the steps below:

Simultaneously press the Windows + R keys to open Run;

At run type control userpasswords2 and click Ok;

Click on the Add box;

Select the option Do not sign in to a Microsoft account;

Choose a name and password for this profile then proceed between the next steps;

After creating the new profile in the User Accounts screen, select the new account and click on the property box;

In the tab, Group Membership mark the profile as administrator and click on Ok.

Access the new profile and see if the behavior persists.

This is likely due to corrupt store files or settings, please try to clear the Microsoft Store cache:

1. Press Windows Key + R to launch Run.
   
2. Enter wsreset.exe and hit Enter.
   
3. Once the reset process finished, restart your PC and then check again!
   

I was having the exact same problem as MithKopite94 (error [0x8000FFFF])

Simply signing out and signing back in sorted the problem for me

Hi Brad,

This happens when they try go into their account from the account selection screen on the Xbox. There is a secondary screen which comes up with an error code, which is 0x8000ffff.
