    I first noticed an issue on Thursday of last week, Netflix suddenly started excessively buffering. I noticed that on Tuesday whilst downloading from the store that the reported speed was very erratic: as high as 25mbps to as low as 500kbps or even nothing
    at all. My router shows current sync at 29mbps and Speedtest.net (performed on a laptop) shows 27mbps with a 30ms ping.

    The console's multiplayer test either gives an initial OK or an intermittent warning about packet loss. The detailed stats page (LT+RT+LB+RB) shows speeds ranging from 15-23mbps, Loss at 4-16% and latency at 150-165ms and NAT type is open cone (although
    initially it was giving open address restricted until a couple of power cycles fixed that). The Detailed Network test seems to give a 0% packet loss value more often but all other values the same.

    Since these problems started I can hear party members but they cannot hear me. There's no 'mic activity' indication in the party menu and no warning of 'no mic detected'. The mute button works fine as does the volume control.

    Before I go on to say what steps I have tried, let me say that after each step I've performed a full power cycle of the modem/router and the console, retested a number of times and that as standard I'm connected via LAN. It goes without saying that all other
    devices seem to be working fine.

    How many Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles are connected to this router?: 1 Xbox 360 (tuned off) / 1 Xbox One (not S)

    Wired or Wireless (for each console): Both wired

    Things you have tried:


    • Changed from LAN1 to LAN3
    • Connected to wifi (no change in test results, 100% strength)
    • Cleared MAC
    • Used Google DNS
    • Assigned manual IP


    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown: Yes

    Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: Open Cone

    Any Error Codes you encounter: No

    Who is your ISP? (Internet Service Provider): PlusNet


    I doubt that it's relevant but up until the public launch of Anniversary I was a preview member.

    Sorry to be gone so long, but here you go:

    65.93 Mbps

    Upload speed

    9.29 Mbps

    Packet Loss 0%

    MTU- 1480

    Latency 113 ms

    Wireless strength 84%

    and although that packet loss at time of typing is 0%, I just checked multiplayer connection and got a packet loss(a thing I've never heard of before) at 35%

    I'm in the same boat. I have a 200Mbps x 20Mbps pipe and I'm only getting 20-30 but the upload remains the same. This same issue happened awhile back with one of the preview updates but it's doing it on both of my Xbox Ones. One with the preview and one
    without.

    I usually have my downloads done overnight but today I had to update Destiny for 12GB patch and it's crawling.

    Does internet speed affect how you play?

    Download and Upload speed do less than you think. You barley require a decent up/down to play. The biggest components are PING and Packet Loss. Packet Loss causes rubberbanding in games and PING is the latency of your connection to theirs. High PING means
    a High Packet Loss (or Jitter leads to Packet Loss too) and what is known as Lag. I have a 20Mb/s download and as long as you and me have the same PING, your 1.6Mb/s download is no different for gaming.

    Thanks for that info. Please see our Multiplayer Connection troubleshooting guide as it includes steps for issues pertaining to packet loss
    under "You have high packet loss". While your packet loss is not currently high, any packet loss can contribute to any network issues you're experiencing.
