Epic sells Gears of War to MS.

I posted on another thread saying I was disappointed by this news. I am really disappointed after reading this

MS buys billion dollar IP and is set to bring the beloved franchise to the X1 = bad.

 

Yes....in the hopes of them taking it back to its roots...and making it gritty,dark and desolent.

If Black Tusk doesn't do it then we will move on.

@strykerr Agree with everything you say there, I met all my xbox friends on gears, we loved it and played every night, what killed the other gears for us was losing player matches.

 

This tit bit of gaming news isn't really much different to when Bungie said they was closing the chapter on Halo. Microsoft bought it and gave the job to 343 Industries. This is the Microsoft way, throw cash at a franchise hoping it will continue to rake
in the cash for them. They bought Rare but Rare is not the company it once was, this is Microsoft's approach to gaming. What did you really expect ? if you want innovation and new concepts then maybe you should look at Sony ?

 

Too much games on Xbox one....

Too much exclusives on X box one....

Too much strong/old franchises on Xbox one....

Too much new IP on Xbox one....

At least,there are games for everybody.....or mostly everybody,because some love complaining about everything.....

if you say that, then you don't know
the history of Gears of War. MS backed Gears before it was a success, not just after.

Wrong. This is one approach to creating IPs. If you think MS is the only company that buys IP/dev studios, then you don't know the story of Naughty Dog.

Expectations have little to do with it. Rod Fergusson does not feel the Gears universe has finished providing stories to tell. If Gears Viking wasn't willing to head the studio then this news would have a very hollow feel
to it. In the same way that people at Bungie who wanted to continue working on Halo joined 343, Rod is joining Microsoft to carry the Gears torch.

Why would I
look at a platform where only some indie titles show up? Indies, where innovation appears to be strongest, are on the PC.

MS's stated goal is to pick the best IPs for the platform. They aren't looking for quantity, they're looking for quality.

 

Ah wild you really don't get it do you. I've owned every Sony product including the PS4 yet Xbox remains my #1 choice. Why? Because I prefer the exclusives and Live.

Not sure why you can't accept that people are excited for another Gears.

Yes,I bought the 360 just for Gears..bought the system and game on Gears launch day...and played it almost daily for a couple of years..sad but true....way to many hours..but wouldn't change it if I had it to do over.....Everybody on my friends list were
all made thru this game....I was told many times by all of them that the reason they bought the 360 is because of Gears.

If Black Tusk does pull it off and makes a Great GOW...then a lot of us will be happy....I hope they can do it!
