Entered Xbox Live Code on Wrong Account

I got my son a xbox live membership for Christmas, we couldn’t work out how to enter it on his xbox so i followed the link on my email with the code. I clicked ‘apply’ expecting it to ask me to log in however I’m somehow logged in on my tablet even though
i don’t use microsoft on it (I can only assume its to do with the fact i have to login with my microsoft details to access an app for school) How do i get it reapplied to his account? It is linked to mine if that helps?

You would have to try contacting support to see if they can cancel it and give you a token for the remaining time to enter on the correct account. http://support.xbox.com/contact-us
Otherwise, nothing can be transferred between accounts. Alternatively, you could sign into his console and set it as your Home so you can share the gold with his account. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox

This seems to be a common mistake for parents which is a profitable plus for Microsoft. I just spent the better half of Christmas morning with support and they will not transfer credits. Nor can you purchase an online
gift card with your credits. Their solution was to use the credits to gift games to my children’s accounts. The only caveat was that you cannot gift items such as Vbucks which is the only reason why my kids want Xbox gift cards. This is not the first time
I’ve had a problem with Microsoft regarding Xbox GC. I would rather deal with Comcast than this company. For what it’s worth, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau this morning.
