    Tested with the latest versions of both the regular app and beta app - the issue is present in both.

    After installing the FCU for Windows 10, the enter key does not work in many circumstances in the Xbox apps. For example, if you comment on an activity feed post, create your own new text-based activity feed post, try and send a message, or try and reply
    to an existing conversation, once you've typed your message/comment/post, if you press enter, nothing happens. You have to click either the "Send" or "Post" button with your mouse to submit the content, which is obviously a pain if you're using a real keyboard.

    The only place that the enter key does still work is in the "Find clubs or people" box that appears above your friends list. You can type something into there and hit enter and it works fine.

    I checked out a bunch of other apps, such as Maps, Groove Music and Skype, and the enter key worked fine when sending messages, using search fields etc. with those apps, so as far as I can tell it's only the Xbox apps that are affected.

    I rolled back to build 15063 of Windows using a system image and of course the enter key then worked fine in the Xbox apps. I then installed the FCU again and the enter key immediately stopped working properly in just the Xbox apps, so this does appear to
    be a compatibility issue between the FCU and the Xbox apps.

    Your right it is actually really good so far, seems faster and it has more of a Windows 7 look to it, like the Xbox App.. Only problem i had was installing MB Drivers because of compatibility but just changed it to Windows 7 in properties! So far so good! I still don't know how it is free forever if it is upgraded within the year, i upgraded for the activation then i put the .ISO on a disc and ran a clean install removing all the previous Windows, skipped product key and it still activated when i got online... What is our Windows 10 Product Key linked to? Will our old Windows Product Key be our Windows 10 key when the free upgrade ends? And will that Product Key no longer work for the older version? What would happen after a big hardware change... Microsoft!

  3. Minecraft Beta doesn't start after Windows 10 fall creators update

    Hi,

    could install Windows 10 Fall Creators Update without any problems on my notebooks Thinkpad 500 and Thinkpad 520.

    Result - my purchased Microsoft Minecraft Beta works well on T500 but not on T520. After long time loading returns to start button.

    Tried shut down and restart, checked if all necessary ports are open, deleted and reinstalled Minecraft Beta and had a chat with XBox support without any success.

    Finally I uninstalled Fall Creators Update and now Minecraft Beta works as before on T520.

    There are several reasons why you are unable to use the Enter key when posting or sending a message on the Xbox App. It is possible that the current Xbox App version installed on your computer is not compatible with the Fall Creators Update. To resolve your
    concern, we recommend that you manually update the Xbox app by uninstalling and reinstalling it on your computer. You may follow the steps below:

    Here's how:

    1. Click Start and type Windows PowerShell on the search box.  
    2. Right-click and select Run as administrator.  
    3. Type the following command to uninstall Xbox app: Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage  
    4. Hit Enter.  
    5. Launch Windows Store and download Xbox App.  

    If you are still experiencing the same issue, update the device drivers on your computer by following the steps on this

    . It is also recommended that you manually download and install the drivers from the device manufacturer's support page to get the most updated version.

    My drivers are definitely up to date.

    As for the version of the app not being compatible, if there was a newer version available, why wouldn't it be detected when I went into the Store and checked for app updates? I did that after upgrading to the FCU and there was no update available for either
    the regular nor the beta app. There were updates there for other apps, but not the Xbox apps.

    I would give your suggestion a try, but I've already rolled back to build 15063.

    After I replied I remembered that I had my dad's laptop here, which I also updated to the FCU yesterday.

    I tested the Xbox app on that and it's the same deal - the enter key only works when searching in the "Find clubs or people" field.

    I removed the app with Powershell, then reinstalled it from the Store. It reinstalled the exact same version of the app and the problem obviously still persists.
