Enforcement

I received an email stating the Xbox live account registered to my son had been suspended.

The email told me to follow a link to the enforcement page. I dutifully followed the link and arrived at an enforcement page informing me that the account was suspended due to breach of communication and could relate to hate speech, harassment or worse.

There was no other information provided. No confirmation of what had been said. And no information on where to get the information requested so that I can parent my child appropriate if this needs to be done.

I was only 10 meters away from him so could hear what he was saying and none of it was in any way hateful or harassing.

I followed the instructions to ask for a case review - however there was nowhere for me to be able to do so!! There is no human being for me to speak to and no where for me to find out the information of what happened. I spoke to “George” in customer services
who told me I just had to live with it - but I have no idea what I am living with!!

How do I find this information out in order to do what is necessary as a parent - I am not a mind reader and a generic message is not good enough!!

One thing that we're maybe forgetting...

Why do you think the xbox one has mandatory checks on games within 24hours and Sony doesn't? It's blatantly obvious Sony won't enforce the same level DRM as the xbox one.

 

There is no other way to contact the enforcement team. Even with a case review, they do not give specifics. They would only give you what is listed at the enforcement site.

So basically they do not provide any information whatsoever?

How do they expect us to parent if we have no idea what we are parenting on? Surely it is in their interests to state what happened so we, as parents, can rectify and adjust behaviour accordingly.

How many of these suspensions can a player receive?? How many times can this keep happening without any information??

It’s absolutely ridiculous! And actually I’m shocked that such draconian enforcement without clarification or format for discussion, is allowed to happen! Definitely making me think twice about whether or not he should move from Xbox to PlayStation as I
don’t want him being part of a society where you get no voice to be allowed to state your case.

 

Per the terms of service you agree to, they are not obligated to provide any further information. There is no set number of suspensions an account can receive. They generally start at 24 hours and increase after that. Multiple suspensions can result in a
permanent suspension, but depending on the severity of a situation you can get a permanent suspension with just one complaint.

 

PowerTrack - I am in the exact same boat. My 10yo son was suspended for the same reason with no details provided. I am also within earshot and know he hasn't said anything punishment-worthy. I believe he is being bullied by someone he knows with whom he
refused to play Fortnite. If this keeps happening, we will absolutely switch to PlayStation, as this is the most ridiculous form of control I've ever seen. To receive no proof and no chance to give our side and go straight to punishment tells me MS doesn't
care about its customers.
