I'm trying to find out why this account had a communication enforcement put on. This is his parents, and we tried the appeal with just asking for why, and didn't get any information there, so hoping we can get it here. We'd like to at least know what he
did so we can help him learn if nothing else.

    Thanks!

    :)

    No reason enforcement

If you violate the code of conduct and you're reported, that report goes to the Xbox Enforcement Team. They review the report and if there was a violation on your part then there's going to be an action imposed on your account.

They will email and let you know if its a communication suspension or live suspension.

The Xbox Enforcement Team does not monitor these forums.

    1) For account suspensions or bans sign in at this site with your account at
    https://enforcement.xbox.com

    2) No one here on the Xbox Forums or at Xbox Support can provide the reason or proof why you were banned.

    3) No one here on the Xbox Forums or at Xbox Support can change the state of ANY suspension or ban.

    4) Only an actual person from the Xbox Live Enforcement Team can impose or remove a suspension or ban on the account.

    - "Despite what some may claim, Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team will never ever ban anyone “for no reason”. Suspensions always occur as a result of a specific Code of Conduct violation."

Xbox Enforcement | How Do I

    5) A suspension or ban on the account is imposed when there has been a violation of the Code of Conduct or Terms of Use.

    - Note: If the violation was significant, the account may face consecutive suspensions and the device could be suspended as well.

    Code of Conduct -

    Xbox.com Terms of Use -
    https://www.xbox.com/en-US/Legal/XboxComTOU?xr=footnav

    6) If you want to contact the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team you can file a Case Review

    - You can't file a Case Review if the suspension is less than 24 hours or you failed the questionnaire.

    - Note: Currently, Xbox device bans are not eligible for Case Review.

    Case Review -
    https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-US/Home/HowTo#sub-topic0-6

    7) If someone is making offensive remarks to you, do not reply back to them. Report and block them.

    - If you're in a party chat and offensive remarks are being made. Your account may receive a suspension just for being in that party if the party is reported.

Submit a report on Xbox One -
    https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-US/Home/HowTo#sub-topic2-0

    8) It's your account and you're responsible for it. If you let a friend use your account and they violate they Code of Conduct or Terms of Use with your account, then it's your account that will be penalized.

    No reason enforcement

should be noted that rhe enforcement team never knows what not to do

They have final say on enforcement

If you mean customer support does not know what's to do that's different as they have NO authority over enforcement actions

As mentioned above you can never be banned for no reason

    You can check https://enforcement.xbox.com

For.the exact reason and no if it's a communicatjon ban you won't know what exactly words as it's a privacy and security concern

And it would've been days or weeks ago

  5. All that says is:

This account engaged in inappropriate communications. This activity may include harassment, abusive language, hate speech, profanity, disruptive or offensive language, spamming, or other inappropriate uses of Xbox Live communications features. Temporary
suspension impact: For the duration of the suspension this account cannot use Xbox Live communication features, including in-game and party chat, messaging, video communications, gameplay broadcasting, sharing content, and Skype on Xbox One. Permanent suspension
impact: This account can no longer sign in to Xbox Live from any device.

We want to know what he actually did - the above leave a whole lot of room for guessing and can either be really really horrible, or just needs to learn some small thing isn't okay moving forward. We submitted a case for review with just a comment along
the lines of "what did he do", and it just came back with a copy/paste response of more or less "this has been upheld"

  7. So as a parent, there's no way to know what was done on xbox live to cause the enforcement action, and no way to help educate them on the specifics of what they did wrong. We have no idea of when it was done, so can't even ask them about what they may have
done wrong xxx days ago, as it could be yesterday, 2 weeks ago, or 6 months ago? I guess I'm missing out on how that can help anyone make your community better moving forward... it's just "you did, said, or wrote something that was either profanity, mean,
wrong, or taken wrong at some point in the last x days/months/years, and you're being punished"?

No one here in these forums can help you and the enforcement team is not obligated to give specifications. When you signed the agreement to be part of xbox live service your admitted that you are aware of the xbox live code of conduct. I suggest you to file
for a review and observe the code of conduct rules in the future:

  9. I get there's an agreement, there always is - it says don't be mean, don't be rude, don't curse, and we reserve the right to do whatever for whatever reason, in whatever time frame we want. I fully understand that part, as it's boilerplate for all online
services. As a parent I was hoping the actual infringement would be made available to help moving forward in reducing any future incident. It's tough to say "don't be rude or mean" with nothing to back up being rude or mean other than "someone said you were
sometime in the history of ever". In the end, no parent is going to watch their 14-17 year old play with their friends on a game the whole time, it's just not reality for working parents once they reach a certain age. I'd seen posts here where Microsoft
had given specifics on the infringement, and hoped that would happen here as well. If there's a different forum, email, way to get to that, that'd be great as well.

As I mentioned, I did ask the enforcement team for a review with just "what was it that caused it", and they said it was upheld with no specifics, so thought I would try here. With no idea of what it is you did wrong, in the end, it's a "something, sometime,
somewhere, somehow", and even an adult would have no idea on the specific action, let alone trying to teach a child about what was wrong. Just seems pointless I guess if you can't know. At that point, an "I trolled a friend and he reported me because he
thought it'd be funny" is just as good an excuse as whatever the reality may be.

    Enforcement for no reason

You can view your enforcement at enforcement.xbox.com and file a case review from there if eligible. The enforcement team does not use the forums.

    Enforcement - Reason

Whilst I see the point being made, have you thought that they may be trying to supress further confrontation.

    Here's a scenario:

You are getting bullied/harassed by somebody you actually know, a co-worker fellow student etc. You decide to report their online actions to the Enforcement team, they suspend that person who is bullying/harassing you and give them the exact reason and the
offending gamer then knows who reported them. Now we have a situation where that can get escalated into actions in the real world.

For me personally i would not engage with harrassment messages or comments. Life is too short to argue or be rude to another person. I just want to enjoy my game time as much as possible.

    Its usually a BAD idea

One retialiation you get q general idea as it is

    Communication ban

Well dont retailiate or harass people its that simple

Ive seen someone actually complain about a secondary ban because they retailoated against a usert who ironically told him he reported him rrsultingni a suspension and thr said user actually retailiated by cussing them out and received anothrr susprnsion
for harassment even longer then the first and yes it wss a forum post

Trashbtalk is ok with moderation 99.9% of users dont get suspended

Smuwtches rule of thumb actualy works

Be human and treat others the same

    Enforcement - Reason

Actually if you pay attention to the enforcement acts they do have included the reason of the their enforcement and the violation that originates them. If a customer is eligible and willing to go through the case review, they have a chance to tell their
side of the story which is taken in consideration. I think that is adequate!
