Enforcement / Force changed Gamertag

I got an Xbox 1 for Christmas this year, and used one of the suggested gamer tags from Microsoft. Fast forward 2 weeks, I was notified that I had got a complaint about my gamertag and was changed by enforcement. I submitted a case review stating I was confused
and don’t mess with anybody, and have only played destiny 2 where I come across several random people. The decision was upheld because my gamertag had the word “sex” in it. I was not happy that that was deemed offensive so I decided I would just change it.
I later found out that I have to pay 9.99 to change it. I tried to contact enforcement to provide more information but since the case was closed, I have no way to get in contact with them, even through their website. I contacted Xbox support a total of 5 times
(3 via messenger, and 2 calls) the representatives I spoke with through messenger tried to refer me to enforcement, but I tried to explain that I already submitted a case review and they have no way to contact them, but I was then given another automatic response
to file a case review. They also told me they have no way for them to contact enforcement.. 2 times I asked to speak with management and was told my information was passed on and they would contact me back in a specific timeframe, but never was. I called
in and explained my situation and told them I just wanted to change my gamertag and not be charged and was told to pay for it and request a refund. I asked to speak to a manager, but they were busy and were going to call me back In 30min, but never did. I
paid to change my gamer tag, and called back 3 hours later just to be told there is no record of the call and was put through to a manager (at this point I’m livid). I explained my story, and he referred me here to have enforcement contact me.

ALL I want is to have a refund for the gamertag change since, 1. I used a suggested Xbox gamertag from the Xbox website and, 2. I was told I could get one from customer support on the phone. Please help me with this. I have been getting the run around for
about a week now.

Are you saying there was no notification after the change?

Indeed Xbox live will take the 9.99 fee for a name change. May I ask what Lol and Dota have to do with your name being changed on XBLA?

I think the only way any of us could help you, would be if you came to my house and mowed my lawn... I could give you the 10 bucks to cover the cost of changing your gamertag. (It's kind of a big yard though, sorry)

 

I do feel cheated at this point for Xbox suggesting a gamertag that was deemed offensive, and 2 being told to pay for the change and could get a refund, but no proof was documented on my account, hopefully the call was recorded.

 

two things first it doesn't matter if it was suggwsted

It.is based on your previous choices

Soy ifname.is.taken it will.get you the closest to.it with some.numbers

However doing so if it does includes offence

It does.not.make you immune to the rules

when talking with support, I was told there are certain words which the system prevents you from using, and I asked if that word was offensive, then it should have been on the list, and I have been told they are going to add it to the banned words. And before
you start to type in anything for your gamertag, there is a list of 12-16 suggested names.

 

and to top it off, I was directed by support to pay for the change and get a refund, then after I do that, I contact billing and they inform me there was no record of the phone call I had with them earlier that day. I told them that I hope it was recorded
so they can go back and listen.

 

I was told from support that there are words that are already removed/ restricted in there system so that you cannot use them.. I then asked if that word is offensive then is it now included on that list, and they told me they were going to put in a request
to have it added. Also not all suggested names are variations after it is typed. When you go to the page where you can type, and it has a list of 12-16 suggested names. So you can’t say they don’t do that. Also, are you a Microsoft/ Xbox employee?

 

Xbox Support does not have ANYTHING to do with the Xbox Enforcement Team. Nor will Xbox Support have a list of words or phrases that are "offensive".

And Xbox Support should not be refunding or stating that they would refund anything that was due to an enforcement action against your account.

The Managers/Supervisors with Xbox Support will not take calls that are related to enforcement actions, again because Xbox Support has no input or control over or along with the Xbox Enforcement Team.

Forced Gamertag Changes

When a forced Gamertag change is imposed, the system automatically assigns a new Gamertag to the affected account, much in the same way a system-generated Gamertag is provided when you first sign up for Xbox Live.

If a player is unhappy with the assigned Gamertag and wishes to change it, he or she may purchase a new Gamertag through the standard Gamertag change process. However, the Gamertag that received the forced change will remain unobtainable.

A forced Gamertag change may be issued if a Gamertag visually resembles, sound likes, represents, hints at, abbreviates, or otherwise insinuates any of the following:

Profane words or phrases

Topics or content of a sexual nature

Hate speech

Controversial religious topics

Notorious people or organizations

Sensitive current or historical events

 

I understand that support does not have access to the list, but they confirmed that there is indeed a list and they are putting in a request to add that word. What I don’t understand is why support has no way of contacting enforcement, as well as why is
enforcement almost impossible to contact. The management did of support did take my call, but it was a support rep that told me earlier to purchase and request a refund. The support rep did state that they take requests for refunds. So if they don’t do these
things, then I would like to know why I was told this information by the support rep when I called in. Also, I was told by the manager in support, if I post in this forum, this will make its way to enforcement. And. I would also like to know if the people
that are replying are Microsoft employees, and if they are, can they put me in contact with enforcement?

 

You've been given the incorrect info,something phone/chat support do often when it comes to enforcement issues as it's nothing to do with them.

Posting on the forums will not bring this to the attention of the enforcement team.They don't use the forums.

We are not Microsoft employees but no one can put you in contact with the enforcement team,the only way to contact them is via a case review which you have already done.
