Energy Saving mode isn't working anymore on both my Xbox ones....

Just discovered today that even when my Xbox one's (I have 2) are set to energy saving mode, they both startup in....instant on mode and will only perform a complete soft shutdown if you go into settings, power options and choose a full shutdown.

Turning the console off by pressing the power button on the face of the console only results in sending it to sleep and not into energy saving mode, even though that is the setting I'm using on both consoles.

It is incredibly necessary for us to have them off in energy saving mode as Microsoft and the makers of our fetch box, in their infinite wisdom, chose to use the same infrared Chanel and hence any button on our fetch remote will turn both Xbox ones on in
our house............when they are in instant on mode.

I raised this with Microsoft, Optus and fetch so many years ago but it has never been resolved.....

Anyways, if anyone can enlighten me on how to restore the behavior of these machines to how it was before, that is...

energy saving mode = energy saving mode

And not

Energy saving mode = instant on

It would be very much appreciated.

My Xbox one randomly turns itself on

yes I just posted the same thing.

I have 2 Xbox ones. They are always in energy saving mode.

Just finished testing both and they are both going into instant on mode now, for some unknown reason.

We have a fetch box and the remote for fetch turns the Xbox ones on when they are in standby mode. This is because... they, both the Xbox one and fetch remote share the same infra red ch, which is why we need energy saving mode.....and why we discovered
this new behaviour in what is meant to be a fully shutdown Xbox.

For us now, energy saving mode behaviour = instant on mode setting

Which results in what appears to be Xbox ones randomly turning on when actually it's when someone uses the fetch remote.

 

When will we be getting a way to limit the download speed the Xbox One uses?

xbox one is constantly updating your friends and feeds and so on , but it should not be doing it in energy-saving mode , it should be ALL the way off , that's why it takes so long to boot up in that mode...maybe yours isn't in that mode or it isn't working
properly...

Energy-saving power mode

In energy-saving power mode, your console is shut down to save energy. In this mode:

•Updates are not downloaded and installed until your console is turned on.

•Your console takes 45 seconds to start up.

•You must press the Xbox button to start the console.

Notes

•In energy-saving mode, the PSU is in off/standby mode and the solid orange LED on the PSU is bright.

•The console uses 0.5 watts of power when in energy-saving mode.

so if the psu is off , I don't see how it could use the internet...
