Our Xbox 360 was fine and then it wasn't. It says I have to install an update but when I try to do that it says I'm not connected to Xbox Live. When I try to connect to Xbox live, I am told I must install an update first. The cycle continues endlessly.
There is plenty of memory and I went back to factory defaults to wipe everything out. Still nothing. Error code 4476-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070. When I searched for the code I got nothing.

Try shutting down your console and unplugging it for 4 or 5 minutes then try it again. If that doesn't work the wifi hardware might be dead.

Thanks. We are new to xbox and very frustrated. Is there a fix for dead wifi hardware? The connection test says wifi is working.

Thank you. I just tried that but the same error code came up. We just recieved this used from a family member and are very new to Xbox.

I looked up the error that you're receiving and was able to find this troubleshooting link

Error 8007-0070 occurs when installing an update

on the Xbox Support website. If for whatever reason the first troubleshooting method does not work, Like the Ambassador mentioned above,

try the
Offline System Update for a 360 console.
