  1. Emigrating from UK to Australia with Xbox One

Hello! So, I move to Australia from the UK permanently in a couple of months, and I'm struggling to work out the best way of taking my Xbox One with me. If I take my existing console with me, I will obviously need an Australian PSU, rather than a UK one.
I really DON'T want to buy some Chinese knock-off which will melt and burn me to death in my bed.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere that it's nigh-on impossible to get Microsoft to sell you another PSU (or a PSU from another region) but I can't establish how accurate that is. Does anyone know? Moreover, when I go to the UK Online Service Centre to even
try and start the process of asking for another PSU, the site shows that no devices are registered to me. When I enter my console serial number on the "Register Device" page, it then says that the serial number is already registered to me! Very Kafka-esque.

So, yeah, that's option one - somehow get an official Australian Xbox One PSU, and take my console with me.

Option two, which I've also considered, is selling my UK Xbox One and buying an Australian Xbox One when I arrive. This is advantageous as I then don't have to ship it with me, or pay a shipping company to send it to me out there.

However, I do have a number of digital games which I don't want to have to re-buy, and in the future I obviously would prefer (to avoid headaches or potential problems down the line) to register it as an Australian console. Is there any method to transfer
digital purchases between different region consoles, provided it's the same user on both? I also have about 6 months Xbox Live membership left; would I lose this if I buy an Australian console and register that?

I'm super-confused, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

    :)

  2. Buying in UK or Australia

I have promised the kids an xbox one but we are emigrating to Australia shortly. Not being an expert on these things, would I be better purchasing in the UK where they are cheaper, or purchase in Australia? Will games, DVD' s, blu ray discs purchased in
Australia work on a UK machine? Thanks

    Account Migration

Would love to know the answer to this as well as I am emigrating to Australia.

I contacted support and basically was told no you can't migrate the account which I don't believe for a second. I can understand not being able to migrate microsoft points and some DLC, but there must be a way to change my account from a UK one to an Australian
    account.

As far as the PSU goes, it should be universal and all you would need is a new "wall to PSU cord". It should be imprinted on the power brick what the specs are.

    -

Games and live are tied to your account. It would be the same as if your console broke, you got another one, and registered it. Everything would transfer over.

    -

The only thing that may not transfer over are games that are banned in Australia. Not sure if there any Xbone games on that list as of now.

Did some research, apparently it's not universal according to MS's page about it.....I can't believe that.

    Hi Demon

People here will give you well meaning ignorant advice.

At the top of the page is a tab for Support.

These people work for Microsoft and are in a better position to advise you than the people here.

Let us know how you get on.

Actually Az --- Most of the Support people are "work at home contractors" that use nothing more than checklists.

Sometimes you don't get good answers from them either.

    mgzin66 doesn't work for Microsoft.

He has no insight in to how Microsoft Support is organised either other than what he's read on the internet.

People who are Microsoft Employees have badges under their names.

  10. Just an update: I went on chat earlier and spoke to the support representative ("Jennifer"), who was very helpful. She states that I can take the Xbox One with me, then contact Xbox Support in Australia (she actually gave me their phone number, too) when
I arrive. They can send me a replacement, although I might have to send them my UK power supply in exchange first.

She also said I can migrate my Live account to Australia, and my games etc will still be playable once this was done. The only issue with that was I wouldn't be able to change region for 3 months after making the first change...but as I'm moving out there
    permanently, that's not an issue.

I suppose which course of action to take now depends on whether or not I can fit the XO in my luggage!

@Az ---- I had a job interview to be a Xbox support agent and it was an "at home position".

Thanks for your input...go stuff it and quit answering like you know me.

    @ Chilling,

Glad you got it sorted out. You will probably need a BIG case, the Xbox One isn't exactly a small machine lol

Hope the move goes well. Me and the wife loved our 2 visits out there to visit family. Going back next year, really can't wait, fantastic place!

Xbox 1 is region free. Which means you can freely change your console locale without worrying about it being region-locked after a few changes. I live in NZ which is neighbours with Australia and have been there it's an awesome country better than NZ. I
know the US uses different power point holes to Australia and NZ. If you have the money, buy a new console. That way you can enjoy that 12 month warranty that comes with new consoles. Also Australia and New Zealand governments offer very good consumer protection
laws. If your product falls faulty, just visit your retailer and they'll organize refund, exchange, or repair. If UK uses different power adaptors to Australia/NZ, retail stores do sell converters. Your Gold membership goes with you no matter what country
you are in US/UK/Aus/NZ. And if you're in Australia, visit Taronga Zoo in Sydney, it's like the best zoo in Australia. Wages in Australia are very high too, unlike NZ where everything is expensive, even the tax rate in NZ is 15% where as I heard someone say
in Australia it's only 10%. I might chose to move their when I'm older. NZ'rs can move and live in Australia indefinitely which is kwl.

Australia is a kwl country. I heard UK people live in tiny houses and it's over populated, and US gets tornadoes and doesn't quite offer as good consumer protection laws as over here. Even many New Zealanders are choosing to move to Australia. Guess how
much Xbox Live Gold 12 months Gold membership RRP's here in NZ.... $79.95.... lol, ok that's just sad, yes it's cheaper in Australia because they have a stronger $.

If a tornado blows my house away, it looks like Australia is the place to go! Couldn't stand living in a teeny, tiny, itzy, bitzy, house like they have in the UK! ;-) I am probably finding this funnier than it really is! Lmao.

    Peace, J.R.
