email idiocy

Please help!

I currently have 2 hotmail accounts. One old one which I never use and very rarely check, and one which is my current email address, which I use and check every single day for both personal and important business correspondence.

I want to DELETE the older account, which I never use. However, my XBox Live gamertag is associated with that old account, so I need to transfer my gamertag to the newer, every day email account.

However, the system won't let me do that because apparently there is another gamertag associated with the "good" account. This other gamertag is not one which I set up. It has never had any activity, and a name which I've never heard of and certainly not
anything I would have chosen. I can only assume it is some sort of randomly generated thing. I tried associating that random never used gamertag with a different email, which is fine, but it still won't let me remove the email acount from that gamertag without
DELETING the entire email account!

I need to delete that other gamertag so that I can transfer my active gamertag, but the online chat support tells me that to do so I'd have to delete the entire email address. Obviously this would defeat the entire purpose, and eliminate the very important
email account which I use each and every day for ALLl my daily correspondence and EVERY SINGLE online account, membership and pretty much my entire online existence.

There must be some way to delete a gamertag -- especially one which I never wanted and which was randomly assigned to me without my ever wanting it -- but without deleting my ENTIRE email account. Or does anyone who chooses to stop playing XBox have to
change their entire online identity?!?

There is no way to merge email accounts, the best solution would be to have both account on your system so you can continue using the gamertag you want, with the console Home set to the account that you purchase your games on.

This way you will have both on your system without any issues.
