Email hacked and doesn't exist anymore can't recover XboxOne Gamertag

My nephew has had an email and hasn't been checking into it and changing his password.

Today it asked him to sign in and it kept saying that his password was invalid.

He contacted me and gave me him login credentials so I can sign into his account and change his password cause my email is a recovery email for his email address.

I tried to log in and it said that it didn't exist. We are trying to recover his Xbox Gamertag for his online gaming as he has saved a lot of progress on his games. Is there a way to recover his account? I've tried the account recovery but it keeps asking
for an email that we have but doesn't exist for Microsoft.

Please help!

Hi Ashely L Brown,

Sorry to hear about this. When using the recovery form you need an email associated with the Xbox Live account. This is for privacy issues. Otherwise, people would entering people gamertag and try to steal their account.

Dont worry you speak to Xbox Support by requesting a call back or speak to a live Microsoft agent and maybe they can assist you. Here the link and hope everything works out.https://support.xbox.com/en-US/

Yeah it's weird. I submit my email to let them know my email is linked to it but it just keeps saying that the email doesn't exist... I keep hitting walls.

I contacted Microsoft while I posted this and we were able to retrieve the gamer tag and put it on a new email! Soooo happy for the service !!!

Thanks for reaching out. I understand there is an issue with a Microsoft Account. I recommend to try the following troubleshooting article:
Find your Microsoft account email address.
