Email difficulties

Hi, my son has an xbox 360 and a game he has will only let him play on xbox live, when ive checked it says that xbox live is connected and I need to put an email address in, I have tried this numerous times but the problem I am having is when Im putting
it in there is no dot (.) on the keypad and it wont let me click on the symbols box I have tried various ways to do it but it will not let us on, I know i am doing something wrong but to say im not technical is an understatement, I really hope someone can
help me solve this problem as i am getting really frustrated as to what i must be missing. Also if someone can help me please can you explain in non technical terms,lol Thank you

Mass Effect 3 freeze

I am having same difficulties after it froze when asking my email and password for security update!! So annoying! Any suggestions on the fix cant find anything in the forum. cheers

 

Change email to a non-Microsoft email

Apparently last night, Xbox had some issues in regards to accounts randomly signing out (Mine was affected twice) so I had some issues contacting them.

After speaking with that ambassador I was quite unhappy as I was pretty confident it could be changed, yet they pretty much talked to me like I was an idiot for try. I called the number you provided instead. After waiting on the line for a bit (I imagine
they're usually busy, never mind the fact that people were probably calling due to the sign out issues as well) I was put through to a customer service rep. If anyone else is having this issue, here was the solution:

1.) Go to signup.live.com

2.) Create a new Microsoft account USING the email you're having difficulties with

3.) Send a verification email to your email

4.) Confirm verification email

5.) Wait a few minutes before attempting to change it on your Xbox.

At this point you should no longer have any difficulties as it will associate your non-Microsoft email (AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) with a Microsoft account allowing you to continue with no difficulties.

yeh i can do the @ symbol well i think its that one some of the letters/symbols are not clear at all on it.

 

If you have a USB keyboard for your PC, just plug that in to the Xbox 360 and use that. It's much easier.

 

no i dont have a pc i have a laptop is there anything else i can do.

 

If you have an iOS, Android, Windows Phone or Windows 8.1/10 device you could download the app "Xbox 360 Smartglass" and connect that to the console, which will allow you to use the phone/tablet/laptop as a keyboard for the console.

But going back to the on-screen keyboard, why are you not able to type a full stop (dot, or period)? It should be at the bottom of the keyboard, or press either of the controller's triggers (either RT or LT) to bring up other special characters where you
should find it.
