Email change results in a new profile creation.

Hello, if anyone can help at all it would be appreciated. Recently I changed my active account's email address to a more valid one (because I switched internet providers and made a outlook email I wanted to use.). but when the process was finalizing it
resulted in a new profile creation with the same email address that my active gamer tag also uses. So now everytime I try to download my active gamertag, I only get the new created account. I'm not sure what happened, But nothing happened to my gamer tag because
it is there, But now I can't get to it. If any xbox live personel or anyone with the same problem can shed some light on this, it will be a huge help. thanks.

You should be able to change the email regardless of the service name. However, the time starts from the creation of the new windows live id, downloading the profile, or changing the password.

 

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

yeah just create a new email address, go to xbox.com and change the email associated with your gamertag. heres the lnk for you.

You inadvertently created two accounts. I see this happen to people all the time. Follow these steps:

1) Go to Web Server's Default Page

2) Sign-In with the old email address and password that you had previously for your gamertag.

3) Click the link underneath your primary alias that says "add or change alias".

4) Add or Create a new e-mail address for the account.

5) Set the new e-mail address as primary once you verify it.

***Note: You will not be able to use the NEW email that you created because it is an outlook.com e-mail. Typically, you can remove the new e-mail address from the new account and add it to the old account, however, removing a Microsoft e-mail address as
the primary e-mail alias on a Microsoft Account will disable that e-mail address.***

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.

Because I made a separate email for the duplicate, In order to free up my active gamer tag. And once again I was signing in to access my active gamer tag, and it bumped me into a screen where it made another duplicate over my active gamer tag. I'm not sure
if I'm doing something wrong, or if my internet is a factor or what.

But if there is anything you could suggest, I would gladly oblige. Because I am totally lost here.

You should call customer service to help you sort it out. You might have made too many changes to keep track of it but an agent can see which e-mail is tied to what gamertag, etc. if you are in the US or Canada call 1-800-4MY-XBOX or go to
