  1. Email address change with currency

Hey guys looking for some help. I am looking to change my email address associated with my xbox live account. i currently have my brothers old email and want to change it to mine so I know it's mine. I read that currency can not be transferred. either spend
it or lose it. However, if I have over $50 will it allow me to keep tht money and still change emails? That's really my question there thanks

    :)

  3. Microsoft Account -- Major Flaw in the System & Cannot Change your Email Address

Frustrating...getting better but very, VERY frustrating (for anyone new, you should have seen the old method of swapping MS accounts...)

    Major Customer Need

    EITHER

    1) Ability to transfer currency from one Microsoft Account to another

    OR

    2) Ability to change the key Email address associated with a Microsoft Account

    Here's my story:

This is a huge, critical flaw. It is highly likely that an email address or account can get hacked or compromised. There needs to be a way to take everything I want to preserve -- gamertag, Xbox Live Gold membership, history, achievements, currency (previous
Microsoft Points), etc and move them ALL to a new account. Right now, everything's possible EXCEPT for the currency.

When I first created my Xbox account, I used another provider's email address. Now that email address was hacked and I was going to "Change my Microsoft Account" to another microsoft email account; however there is NO WAY to move my currency. So I'm stuck
until I spend ALL my currency. You'd better believe I'm never buying any more currency again.

What's more frustrating is until this gets resolved, I'm stuck NOT logging into my Xbox Live gamertag & message system on my PC until I manage to change my microsoft account from the old email to the new one -- otherwise I'd be constantly changing my login
from the old MS account to my new one.

My case is somewhat unique, but this problem applies to ANYONE: What if you had your Outlook.com or Hotmail.com email hacked, and it was linked to your Xbox Live account & gamertag? You'd have the same choice: spend all your currency
or be suck with your Xbox tied to a hacked email. Unacceptable.

  6. Young Moolah 10,

Would it be of interest to just change the account name on the same e-mail account?

For example say your E-mail is currently *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** and you want to change it to one of your *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** and changing the Microsoft Account's date of birth and details to your own name. Would this be an option you would be interested in? You will be guaranteed
to keep your money with this method. As money is linked with a specific Microsoft account this may just be the best method as you still want to be able to use the money that remains.

To do this method simply go to:

    Step 1 http://account.live.com

Step 2 Under account > Click Aliases

Step 3 Veiify the account with the security code it'll send to you

    Step 4 Add alias

    Step 5:

Create a new email address and add it as an alias

    <enter something> @ oulook.com

Step 6 Set it as the primary alias

Step 7 (optional) remove the old alias (you will just sign in with the created alias from now on, if you choose not to delete the old alias you can sign in on both aliases, instead of just the original)

    ---ALIAS CREATION COMPLETE---

Step 8 Account > Basic Info

Step 9 Edit Display Name (Choose to change the first name, you should have the same sirname if I'm correct?)

Step 10 Edit Personal Details (To change the date of birth)

    ---BASIC INFO COMPLETE---

    Step 11 Account > Security & Password

Step 12 Update the relevant password and security proofs

    ---SECURITY & PASSWORD COMPLETE---

Further to this if this is not an option you do not want to consider then there may be no possible resolution unless you contact Microsoft Customer Support and have this issue escalated

    United States: 1-800-4MY-XBOX or 1-800-469-9269

Note that the method I suggested will not change the Microsoft Account, it will just re-name it to one of your choosing to make it like your own if it has a name you don't like when you want it to feel like your own e-mail address. As far as the alternative
this really is the only way you'll get to keep the funds associated with the account. Unless higher support can make a few exceptions but that would be done by contacting Customer Support.

I hope it works out for you! Let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Daniel

Hey there, NarcDog544! Sorry to see the currency expired before you were able to use it. The system is designed to send you an email when the currency is about to expire; the majority of currency codes do have an expiration date, normally a year after you
redeem it. If your email isn't accurate, I suggest you
Change your Microsoft Account email address
by following the steps listed in the support article. The only team that is able to look into your currency expiring is the phone or chat teams, which are contacted through our
Contact Us page. They will be the best point to assist you further. Thanks for understanding!

    Account Swap(WLID change)

    Hi there,

be aware that if there is still currency on the account, this may prevent you from moving the account to a different Microsoft Account.

If it's just the primairy email address you want to change you can also try the steps mentioned here:

    support.xbox.com/.../change-email-sign-in-for-microsoft-account

This won't move the xbox live account to a different Microsoft Account, but will only change the primairy email address used for the xbox live account (and Microsoft Account)
