Elite Wireless Controller Support Problem - Not Good

Hello all. I am a 12 year (soon to be 13 year) Xbox Live subscriber and this is the first time I am posting a complaint on this forum.

I was lucky enough to find an Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller this week at a local Gamestop. I got the controller home and opened it up. I noticed right away that something was broken on the inside of the controller and was rattling around inside. The
controller seems to work fine (for now) but something is obviously amiss and I would not settle for it simply based on the dollar investment. As we all know the store did not have a replacement controller to offer me so I contacted Microsoft for support.

When I contacted them I was under the assumption that they would drop ship me a controller and I would send them back the old one with the box they send. I spent over an hour in a chat room with a tech where I was forced to provide proof of purchase and
send them a picture of the box with serial number and the receipt. I did so happily as this is not an unreasonable request.

I was contacted today and told that I would have to ship the controller back on my own dime ($25-$30 dollars if you include proper box and wrapping) and that they would not ship the new controller until the old one was received and processed. So not only
would I have to foot the bill for the shipping but I would have to go without the controller during my time off during the upcoming holiday.

My primary issue is that I have a valid Xbox Live subscription with a credit card on file. Is it that I cant be trusted to send the controller back after receiving a new one? If I failed to send the old controller back they could simply charge my card.
My cell phone company has been operating like this since I joined them. The bottom line is that I feel disrespected and duped by the whole situation. I would have thought that 13 years of patronage would have earned me some benefit of the doubt in this
case.

I am extremely disappointed but have limited options. Buyer beware if you have issues with the ultra rare elite controller!

Disrespected and 13 years of patronage as a 12 year old, this thread is funny.

 

There are none in stock. Tried that already.

 

So MS are at fault because they tried to help you through standard procedures, either get a refund quickly through gamespot or go through MS to get a replacement, but don't whine about it and blame a company for helping you.

MS owe you nothing, you paid a service you used it, your even.

 

Did you read the thread? The issue is with their "standard procedure". Cell companies drop ship replacements overnight on issues like this. Their "standard procedure" does not meet expectations. This is the same "standard procedure" used during the red
ring of death era of the Xbox 360 and it lacks any type of customer focus. This post was mainly meant for Microsoft to see as they monitor these forums. You are obviously trolling for an argument which you wont get.

 

This is GameStop's problem.

So you don't get the Elite right away. Big deal.

The only thing missing from the OP is the threat to jump ship and buy a Sony.

If you look at the breadcrumbs of the thread you will see its a discussion forum, not a support forum, so no MS employee will every see it. If they don't meet your expectations thats tough, they have offered you the option, if you don't like tough, crying
isn't going to change that.

Maybe research companies exchange and returns policies better before buying and going through the manufacturer is always more long winded than going through the retailer.

 

As far as I know Microsoft does do the quick exchange for faulty consoles guess they won't do it for you because the problem is with an accessory

 

Why can't you wait for Gamestop to replace it.

It's gonna be faster than playing the mail game with Microsoft.

And if they are going to drag their feet demand your money back and buy one in the after Christmas sales.
