Elite Series 2 - Replacement or purchase warranty - please help

So I pre-ordered my elite series 2 online last year when it was announced. The left stick has started drifting like crazy to the point I cant use any media apps and in any game my character gets stuck running forward.

Today I talked to a xbox representative on the phone and was basically told my controller is a paper weight, there is nothing they can do about it, and the best advice she could offer was to buy a new one and buy a warranty for the new one. I am beyond disappointed.
I did not even know about the extended warranty until today. So i asked if i could purchase the warranty now since I had no idea. She said I was not able to but I could buy a new controller. I also had the elite series 1 and even when it was out of warranty
they replaced it, no idea why this time nobody is willing to help. My elite series 1 issue happened well after a year while this one is half a year from purchase date. Beyond frustrated and disappointed . Please help and advice is there is anything I can do
(Thats not purchase a new one, unfortunately thats not in my current budget with the pandemic going on)

Warranties cover a like for like replacement if required under that warranty so as far as I know, yes, if you send an Elite series 2 in for replacement you will receive an Elite series 2 back.

Hi there.

The warranty for the Elite Series 2 controller in the US is 90 days from the day of purchase. After this period, the controller is considered out of warranty and is therefore not eligible for a replacement. If you took out extended warranty from the retailer
then this might be an option for you.

If not, I suspect $99 for a replacement is still cheaper than buying a new out from Amazon.

The Elite Series 2 controller has a 1 year warranty.

If your controller isn’t working and needs replacing, go to https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controller/controller-warranty and
enter the controller’s serial number at the bottom of that page. For the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, the 14-character serial number is in the lower centre on the back of the controller.

They recently extended the warranty for elite 2 to one year. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/elite-controller-series-2-warranty . maybe this will help
