    Elite Series 2 Not working on iOS After firmware Update


    I recently have Updated my Elite Series 2 through my Xbox and the update worked fine. But I have just tried to connect it to my IPad and while it registers it shows up as Xbox wireless controller now instead of Xbox Elite wireless controller. And when I attempt to use it for a game its button clicks are not registered.

    Device: IPad Pro 2nd gen 12.9” cellular

    Firmware: iOS 14.3

    I have even tried it on my IPhone X on iOS 13.1.3 and it is now showing up via Bluetooth (something that was not possible on iOS 13 without a Jailbreak tweak like nControl) but it still won’t work in apps.

    I just made the same mistake. And was very upset about this. I had everything working perfectly before the update. Yesterday my ipad would recognize the controller as an elite. I was even able to use it to play remote computers though the ipad. The remote computers were able to detect the elite controller and the extra paddles. Then today when I went to update the controller on my xbox, the controller’s paddles were not functioning for ipad purposes. (The only reason I got the controller was for the ipad, I don’t really use the xbox.) This was absolutely devastating. I wish I could reverse to firmware update. However when I updated to iPadOS 15.2.1 most functionality was restored. I am now able to use the paddles and have them recognized by the remote computer. It will take some time to fully test if there are no other issues with the fix, and I will report here IF I find anything. One thing I noticed immediately after installing the iPadOS update, is that the controller is still naming itself an Xbox Wireless Controller through bluetooth now, as opposed to an Xbox Elite Controller before.

    The same thing is happening to me except now it won’t even show up in my Bluetooth area because I forgot the device hoping that that would make it connect but now the option isn’t even there to connect because the Xbox controller doesn’t show up on my iPad as a Bluetooth option.

    I apologize for the trouble. Kindly update your iOS device as well because there is a 15.1 update that may fix the compatibility issue.
