Elite Controller

After putting in some research into the Elite Controller, I found that it was plagued by issues since day one. Are the issues like the bumpers breaking, stick drift, bad d-pads, etc... still plaguing it. I've been trying to find out if any of these issues
have been solved yet I can't find anything recent. I've been on the fence about buying it and the 90-day warranty isn't helping.

I actually just had an online chat session with Microsoft support about this. I purchased my elite after burning through 2 regular controllers in maybe 2 years. For me personally, the d-pad is solid and I haven't experienced any stick drift. However, after
8 months the right bumper has already broken. There are absolutely no options to have it repaired or replaced if it is outside of the 90 day warranty.

My opinion is that a console controller at this price should be flawless, or at least last more than a year. I would say you are better off spending the money on multiple regular controllers that will inevitably need to be replaced, or put the money towards
a PS4 pro instead (which is what I intend to do.)

 

I have the elite now 11 months and everything works well except the rubber grips that are peeling off at all 4 sections. I was told I had no recourse outside 90 day warranty. The glue has come lose from the grip, all four sections. Not the quality I expected
from a $150 pro level accessory. Very disappointed by microsofts support. They won't acknowledge the defect or go beyond the 90 day warranty.

 

I've not had any issues with it, been using it everyday since April 16, well except the rubber is starting to peel away on the left side.

 

My left bumper broke after 2 weeks. returned it for a refund.

 

hello recently I got my third xbox one wireless elite controller (the two others are back in store waranty change) and still have some issue with the stiks. FIRST controller, left stick get stuck on the right when use it on this direction. then went back
to store and get my SECOND rigth stick get stuck on right when use it on that same direction! went back to store and get my THIRD and guess what ? left and right stick get stuck on the right wen use it on this direction???? for a controller that cost half
the price of a console ****?

 

sadly like all things people only report the negatives and not the good things. I have had mine for a year now and its still in the same condition as when I first bought it. Except for the last few weeks I used it nearly every day for at least 2 hours. A
friend has had one for six months and it still works ok.

In my opinion it is a very good controller. Like everything some are better made than others I'm sure if you researched anything you would find mostly negative responses on forums. When I decided to look into getting one I read reviews from sites I trusted,
watched youtube videos of people trying them out and avoided forums like I would the plague.

If you decide to get one I hope you enjoy it.

 

I have used my elite controller quite a lot. many hours. I have not experienced the stick drift or triggers breaking.

Microsoft support is poor, I have sat here waiting for quite some time and nobody has replied to my issues.

My issue is that the rubber grips are peeling off. Since the controller is $200 (Australian) I would have thought it to have been high quality.

But after roughly 12 months the controller is falling apart.

 

I've had several Elite controller break for different reasons - a shoulder button or direction on the D-pad stopping working, a trigger getting stuck in, the trigger stop mechanism becoming faulty and causing a trigger to catch, the rubber grip on the back
peeling off.

The problem I have is that now that I'm used to using the paddles to play games, I really, really don't want to go back to using a regular controller. Thankfully, apart from one, all of the ones that I've had break have been under warranty (we get 12 months
as standard in the UK) so they've been replaced for free, but I really wish MS would bring out a new version that addresses the issues and maybe adds a new feature or two (adding a couple of customisable buttons like the Chatpad has would be great).

 

had 4 elite controllers, first one the hair triggers broke, the other 3 the rubbers came away after a few months use. I have replaced them under UK warranty laws that cover us for 12 months. Either I have been very unlucky or there are manufacturing issues.

 

Can I ask for your help? I'm in the UK too, looking to replace my 11 month old Elite for the same rubber grip issues, but Microsoft's support site is giving me the run around. Where exactly do you have to go to arrange the replacement under warranty?

I've found a page where I can fill out a repair order, but the only options available for "repair type" are to replace the removeable parts, not replace the controller itself.

 

I just took mine back to Argos (where I bought from) with the receipt and got an exchange

 

@HewTheLion - Assuming you didn't buy the controller from Microsoft, first try contacting the retailer. Being able to do a direct replacement is preferable.

If you have to do it through MS, your best bet is to phone them up. They'll give you a pre-paid label, then you strip the controller of any removable parts and ship it off, then they send you a working controller in return. For me that process took over
3 weeks because they didn't have any stock to send out as replacements, but generally it should be quicker than that.
