Elite controller

I love my Elite controller no button problems yet but I'm disappointed I cant use my normal rechargeable battery setup. The battery fits but the cover wont. I shouldn't have to buy a special battery charger its obvious they are just trying to get an extra
$40 out of consumers. The controller itself has been great I use it daily.

 

I don't get your battery problem I use the normal battery pack that comes with the plug and play in the elite controller plus I'm assuming you use normal rechargeable batteries which should be the same size as the normal batteries the controller comes with

 

Did I read that wrong that normal batteries don't fit properly?.....must be wrong or someone has a dodgy battery cover.

Yeah anyway, I am looking forward to grabbing one of these, like the idea of robust metal parts etc. As far as buttons go, in the years owning many 360 controllers and a few X1 controllers, I don't think I ever had a button go bad. It has only ever been
the dreaded left stick drifting that I've had problems with.

If there is anyone who suffered from the left stick drifting on standard controllers, I'd like your opinion on the sticks on the Elite controller. I know this can probably be a bit tricky to answer because it's not something you can tell is going to happen
until it happens. This is the only thing kind of holding me back at the moment tbh. I don't mind forking out 30 odd quid for a new controller every 2 or 3 months because I think I get my money's worth as I put some serious gaming hours in. If I'm going to
get a drifting stick every 3 months on the Elite controller?....Yeah, wouldn't fancy that tbh.

 

I really like my new Elite console and Elite controller.

My Day One console was a scratch magnet due to the piano black finish so am enjoying the matt black finish.

Elite controller is heavy and well made so I expect it to last a long time.

 

@ Goat. Normal batteries fit. I use rechargeable AA batteries that fit fine. I can't say if it's compatible with all other plug-n-play types or not and I think that might be the issue.

The metal parts are nice. I noticed something I really didn't expect with mine. The bumpers on my OG controller would sometimes be 'hit & miss' when I used them. Unless I hit them just right (small hands, so depending on what I was doing, I didn't always
hit the same sweet spot on the bumper... and it wouldn't always make the button "click").

The bumpers on the elite have been a "no miss" for me, no matter where I tap them, it clicks the button and registers. I think it's because of them being metal.

As for drifting thumbsticks, I've had that happen regularly, although I do have to say my OG controller is still... was still going after 2 years... until the elite sent it to early retirement. But that's a bit unusual for one to last that long, for me.
I just chalked it up to playing a ton of FPS games.

I can tell you that the sticks on the elite feel... different... to me. They have a very smooth, solid and fluid feel to them. Although I imagine that's likely because the bases that the sticks themselves attach to are also metal, so maybe a better way to
describe it would be weighty... in a good way.

I got the controller a few days early for a Christmas gift and although that isn't really all that long, I can say the sticks feel just as solid and responsive as they did when new. I've used it every day since I got it and I'm almost always on between 5-6
hours. Don't know if that'll help or not, but it might be of some use for reference.

That's all good to know. Bumpers, like the buttons have never been a problem, but to know they are better anyway is always good. Really like the sound of all the metal parts and extra weight. The X1 controller has always felt delicate? Compared to the 360
controller, so metal solid parts is very appealing.

The sticks. They do worry me with the price of the controller BUT I am yet to see anyone say the sticks have drifted on their Elite, which tbh is good. Think I'll give it another month or so and grab one. Need to get some new home audio first, my home cinema
decided to go with a bang last week lol.... And "bang" isn't an exaggeration either.

 

^Well that doesn't, err... sound... good. X/ This controller definitely feels solid compared to the OG one. When you pick it up, you can tell right away. It's heavier, but not too heavy. The case it comes with is pretty nice too. Barring any drifting issues
(my only concern at this point), I'm happy with mine.

 

It's pricey, but it's built very well! I've had mine since release and haven't had a single issue with it. It's definitely the real deal.

 

Just picked up my Elite on Saturday. Well pleased. The controller is one of the best I have ever used, ever since playing the original PONG

Really looks like it will take a good bit of stick. But! the buttons on the right don't feel much different to me, so I really hope they last, as they are the ones I usually give the most bashing.
