Elite Controller with Play & Charge Kit

I'm having an issue that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

At the begging of this year, I purchased an Xbox One S (previously owning a 360) with some accessories, including the Play & Charge kit.

I'm loving it so much that recently, I decided to purchase a new 'Elite Controller' for my birthday. I removed my Play & Charge kit from the white controller to use it with the Elite controller, but ever since this, I seem to be having problems.

• The controller would sometimes randomly turn off for no reason.
• I would fully charge it and then 15 minutes later, the Xbox would report that it was low again. It would do this for the next 5-7 days until it would eventually run out of charge.
• If I use the Play & Charge kit in the white controller that came with the Xbox, it's fine.
• If I use standard batteries in the Elite Controller, it's fine.

So both seem to be working fine, just not with each other.

Any ideas?

Xbox One Elite contoller - play & charge kit drains too fast

Hello.

My problem is following: I bought new Xbox One Elite controller. I put my play & charge kit (battery) to it.

The battery should last 30 hrs. With my elite controller, I only get 8hrs of gametime before it dies.

I previusly had another elite controller with the same play and charge kit battery, had no issues at the time.

I also tested my play and charge kit with my Xbox One S- contoller, battery life is good.

So, problem is not the play and charge battery kit, but my current elite controller. I also noticed that it shut it self down in middle of gaming... Could I have a faulty controller? How to fix it?

As the disconnections where random, I thought interference might be causing this. So I need to experiment.

The battery issue is my main problem though.

If the charge and play kit was the one that was designed for the Xbox 360 that's likely the issue. My understanding is that it either doesn't work, or runs into all sorts of problems. My suggestion would be to get a new charge and play kit for the Xbox One.
I'm guessing all of the problems you're experiencing will most likely go away.

 

It's the one designed for the Xbox one. I got it the same time I purchased the console. I have been using it for over 6 months in the controller that came with the console, with no issues.

I didn't have one for the 360.

 

If that's the case there's really only one of three options. There's something wrong with the controller, the battery, or the USB cable. Since it works fine in the standard controller that came with it, I would lean more towards an issue with the controller.
One quick test would be if you have access to another charge and play kit (a friend has one, go to a store that will let you test theirs, etc.) If that one works without any issue, there's an issue with the USB cable or battery. If that one has the same
issue, it sounds like there may be something defective with the controller.

 

I was hoping that wasn't the case. It means that I'll have to return it and be without it for a few weeks.

Thought someone may have had the same issue and was hoping it was a simple fix. Dam and blast!

I did hear that there are two versions of the battery. One released in 2013 and another in 2017. I have no idea which one I have and can't find out any details about what the differences are.

 

Just to let everyone know, that after a few weeks of doing the following:

• 15 minutes of use
• Controller complains battery is low
• Controller turns off
• Turn back on controller
• Repeat until controller will not turn on (battery drained)
• Charge overnight

All of a sudden, it now seems to be working how it should. Will now go for a whole week without complaining and the battery charge level slowly decreased through time (unlike before where it would show full and then flat within 15 minutes, then go full again
when you turn it back on).

How bizarre !!
