elite controller turning off

I always turn on and turn off my Xbox 360 Elite console with the wireless controller!

when i push the button to turn my elite controller on and pull it off after it turns on it instantly turns off

What do you mean you "pull it off after it turns on"?

Do you have the controller connected via USB cable? Are you using a battery from the Play & Charge kit and charged the controller via USB?

Does the controller work if you use fresh, disposable batteries?

Great responses so far, I would agree to try the batteries first and then possibly a USB cable but in my experience if the batteries did not fix it then I had to send it in for repair. It was real easy and I had a replacement or they fixed mine within
about a week. Awesome service Microsoft!

I'm assuming it has fresh batteries in it and you didn't accidentally put it used batteries

Try it with a usb cable, if its working, its meaning a Bluetooth issue either with the controller either with the console.
