Elite Controller support and repair

Hopefully this post can spark a change in the way Xbox support handles issues and help other people who might be going through the same thing I was.

First, let me start off by saying that I bought my elite controller about 8 months ago maybe longer but definitely outside of warranty, it is well worth the $150 or $149.99 and I am simply a casual gamer. It was the answer I was looking for well below what
the competitors asking price of an equivalently equipped controller. About a month ago my left joy stick started to become wobbly, I have the longer sticks and they do affect it some so I ignored it. The play got worse and worse until 3 days ago it simply
broke, even sticking in a certain spot. I know I could have purchased a warranty but Gamestop did not offer one.

Naturally I did what most would do, look up my factory warranty, 90 days terrible warranty but I knew that before I bought it. I was still not phased I could still pay to get it repaired it. So I click around online and request a service call from support.
I get a call in less than 15 seconds it was awesome no joke. Out of respect for the rep that called we call her "Kay". Kay is extremely nice and empathetic towards my issue and I am not an easy person to deal with. I just want to cut to the chase. She does
her job and asks a series of questions that eventually lead us to what I already knew. They weren't going to fix it for free. I told her I just want to get it repaired, she tells me I can set up the repair online for free or if she did it I would have to pay
a fee. I attempted that on the support page before I requested the call and it wouldn't register the serial number on the back. She proceeded to do it for no cost, Kay was super helpful can't stress that part enough.

At this point Kay is seems to need some guidance and informs me that she needs to email another department, not 100% sure why I'm not talking to that person but they were probably not as nice as Kay was. After ten minutes of us listening to each other breathe
she has a response with our solution.

She should have made sure I was sitting down. My only option was to "send them my controller and they would send me a new one and charge me for it" you could tell as it came out of her mouth that even she couldn't believe that was there option. There it was,
not "we will troubleshoot and help determine what is wrong with it and send you the bill." I made sure to clarify on weather I would receive credit for my broken controller and she said no. I was shocked, why would I even send them my controller? I could just
go buy a controller from best buy if I wanted to do that. She sent me an email with a link in case I wanted to continue with the request.

It was a simple fix I did it myself after you tube maintained its supremacy in the best teacher in the world department. I only had a T10 star wrench and I needed a T8. Autozone had my back, bought a neat bundle of star bits. I had the tweezers and a flat
head and got to work. This is what I found.

I don't want free things or to be compensated some how for my troubles. I'm not asking you to extend the warranty or service my equipment for free. I just wish you could maybe respond to some of the issues that many others are having with these higher priced
Microsoft accessories. If there is a way to service it maybe inform the people who call regarding accessory service!

The grip of my controller is wearing off, the A button spring doesn't seem to work right and my left turn is much slower than my right turn on my right thumbstick.

I'm not rough with the controller at all. I have never once thrown it.
