  1. Elite Controller Series 2 Issues. Third time's the charm, right?

    Hi all,

I've seen it a couple times already, but I would like to make note of an additional case of it.

I pre-ordered the Elite Controller Series 2 having never owned a modified controller; However, as a birthday present to myself, I decided to "treat myself" and buy one. I was very excited and expected a big upgrade in comparison to the standard Xbox One
controllers, maybe even a special edition controller considering I pre-ordered. Upon receiving my new controller I was a little disappointed to find there wasn't a special edition for pre-ordering (which isn't a massive deal but still worth a mention since
there have been 'Day One' editions before and I did hope that would be a little surprise) but I was still very excited! I had never invested in something so expensive for gaming before (besides a console obviously) and the looks of it were stunning! Very nicely
packaged and looked/felt very high quality and well constructed.

The real disappointment kicked in as after configuring my new controller, which by the way is extremely cool and I absolutely love it, I noticed very quickly at some points I would push a button and it would not register. Then shortly after getting into
a game (Modern Warfare), I noticed there was some serious stick drift. I initially thought maybe this was to be expected with having a super sensitive sensitivity or tension so I adjusted the sticks but no matter what I did, the stick drift was still very
much there (mainly on the right stick but evident on both).

After some research, I realized I was not the only person experiencing this problem. Some Microsoft advisers were saying this is not to be expected and to exchange your controller for a new one if you were experiencing similar issues. So, I went on the
Microsoft website and tried arranging to send back my controller and have a new one mailed to me but for two days straight I was getting stuck on the same screen loading after selecting standard shipping. Naturally, I decided to arrange an appointment at the
closest Microsoft store to me (an hour and a half away). The employees at this particular location had recently had multiple others coming into store with similar troubles and were very quick and helpful and swiftly exchanged my defected controller with a
brand new, fully functioning one. Or so I thought...

Now upon arriving home and setting up my new controller and hopping in a game, of course the first thing I do is check for the same errors I encountered before. Not only am I experiencing the same issues, I now am dealing with an additional defect. In some
cases, my paddles do not register my pressing of them. I expected much more in my first modified controller, especially when it is official from Microsoft and cost almost $200 USD (over $200 USD if you opt to also buy the three year warranty).

I am no controller expert by any stretch but when I can buy a standard controller for $60 USD and not experience any issues, I surely should not have to even worry about experiencing ANY issues on a controller that is more than triple the price! I am very
disappointed, I guess I have to go out of my way once again and attempt to exchange this second defected controller in the hopes of getting my hands on a brand new, fully functioning controller.

If you are considering buying the Elite Controller Series 2, I would give you the advice of waiting and seeing if they recall or re-release the controller, updated with no defects before coughing up your hard earned cash on a product that is likely to frustrate
if you too experience similar - or any issues.

Thank you to all who took the time to read my novelty. I will likely post an update once I get my sweaty, tryhard palms on my next new controller. Third time's the charm, right?

    :)

Elite Controller Series 2 Issues. Third time's the charm, right?

Update: I went back to the Microsoft store to exchange once again. This time I had the fine idea of testing it out in store and the third controller looked refurbished, it did not look brand new and it also had a serious button stick issue. So, we did
another exchange in store and I tested the fourth controller. It felt so good! It again looked refurbished, had wear on the grips and little marks on it. No button sticking, buttons seemed to register perfectly, and I wasn't having any stick drift. But just
before I was going to sigh in relief and take my working controller home, I did a final test of the right stick and - you guessed it - stick drift. It was very minor in comparison to my previous encounters with the first three controllers but there nonetheless.
The employees could not believe it. 4/4 controllers I tried all had significant issues. I would very highly advise you not to purchase the Xbox Elite Series 2 now. Wait to see what Microsoft says about quality control and new batches first. You are better
off getting a standard controller and using those accessories which give you paddles on the back and get some KontrolFreeks. $195 is not worth it for a controller that is going to have any problems at all. Another option is go with a Scuff Controller. For
now I am back on the Sony PS4 train.

Wow sorry you had to experience such bad luck! I've never had an single issue that is commonly reported by users with either my Series 1 or Series 2 Elite, both work like the day I got them.

Really feel like they pumped out the Series 2 way too fast or too many and a solid amount of them got horrible quality control.

What is the most advanced controller on the market as of now, June 2020??????

Best controller for playing is with no doubt the elite series 2. I do not know if there is some orher type of third party controller that can have some better connectivity/personalization. But in general, series 1 and 2 of the elite are top
