Elite Controller Series 2 is mapping A Button to open Game Bar PC

First, welcome to the community. Recently many people have reported this problem here in the community, apparently, it is a bug that only happens with the elite controller, and as you said with cable it works normally, however when using the wireless controller this bug happens.

What has worked for some people is updating the controller via the Xbox accessories app, this app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. To update the controller it is necessary to have it plugged into the PC, do not try to update wirelessly.

- If updating the control does not solve the problem, please try the procedure below.

Go into device manager > human interface devices > Bluetooth LE XINPUT compatible input device > power management> disable "allow this computer to turn off this device"

services > device association service > set to automatic

Steam settings > set up controller as xbox controller

- If that doesn't solve the problem, we recommend disabling the Xbox game bar, for that follow the instructions below.

Uncheck the box ''Open Xbox Game Bar using this button on a controller''
Disable it too

1. Open the Xbox Accessories app on an Xbox or PC where your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 or Xbox Adaptive Controller is connected and powered on.

2. Click the Configure button.

3. Create a new profile or edit an existing one.

Strange not having any updates, anyway check if by disabling the Xbox game bar the problem stops happening, for that follow the instructions below, please.

Go to Windows Settings

Games

Xbox Game Bar

Deactivate it

Uncheck the box to open the Xbox game bar with the Xbox button on the controller as well.

If the problem persists, use a cable to plug the controller into your PC, open the accessories application and restore your elite controller settings to defaults, restart your PC and see if the problem persists.

Now, this advance Controller offers exclusive option to create profile to customize button mapping that you can do using Xbox Accessories app. Here are steps on how to create a controller profile:

1. Using your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, open the Xbox Accessories app.
   
2. Scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
   
3. Select New profile, give your profile a name, then configure your changes. For example, if you reassign D-pad down  on the face of the controller to the Y button , then the D-pad down  will act as the Y button  going forward.
   
4. When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.
   

Create multiple profiles in the app and switch between them using the built-in Profile button.

1. Open the Xbox Accessories app, scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
   
2. In Profiles, select a controller profile you’ve created or create a new one.
   
3. Choose a slot.
   

You can assign a slot for up to three profiles. Press the Profile button on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2 to switch between them. When no bars appear lit below the Profile button, the controller is using the default button mapping.

Assign Shift key button:

Assign buttons to act as shortcuts for system actions like “Record that” and “Take screenshot.” When you select a button to remap, choose Primary or Shift, go to the Action tab, then choose an action from the list. When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.

Note System actions are currently not available on Windows 10.

This has been an issue that Microsoft doesn't seem really interested in fixing or explaining any kind of fix for. Here is a link to a thread that was just locked without any solution.

The only solution was to hook the controller up to an actual Xbox and update it that way. So anyone who doesn't have a console is out of luck.

It's incredibly frustrating because Microsoft refuses to acknowledge the issue or provide any real help with it. For a controller that costs upwards to $200, the support for it is an absolute joke.
