Elite controller not charging.

Update: I left my controller plugged in while I slept. Just got up and the indicator light (it's the old cable) was white and the charge icon showed full. When it needs to be charged again, I'll try it with the new cable, just to see. I'll update again,
then.

 

I had already tried putting the Play & Charge battery into an old controller and it charges just fine. After being completely charge I put it back in the Elite and it showed the low battery message right away and wouldn't charge.

I play with the USB cable in all the time so the controller never goes dead so I can't help you on that piece of data.

 

Same issues here. I tried to plug in the braided Elite cable after receiving a low battery notification. A few minutes later I received another low battery notification while it was still plugged in! I swapped to the original plug and play USB cable with
the power indicator LED and left it charging overnight (10+ hours, far more than is normally required). This morning it's still showing an orange LED, so I turned the Xbox One on and immediately received another low battery notification. I popped out the
plug and play battery, placed it back in the controller, and it was showing a full battery.

I love the design of the controller, but Microsoft had plenty of time to work out these bugs. Did they not think that by cheaping out and not including a plug and play battery that people wouldn't use their own? Also, with Instant set on the thumbstick
curves, there is pretty bad stick drift. The QA/QC they did on these controllers is awful.

 

Sorry to hear the battery trouble!

Are you able to clarify if the battery dies as if it's running off a low battery or are you continuously getting a low battery alert while the controller stays powered as if it were fully charged?

This isn't a normal issue and if it's happening continuously I would recommend reaching out to the retailer for an exchange. If your retailer is out of stock a Repair/Replacement is going to be your best next option. Keep us in the loop with what's going

I'm having similar issues. I have a brand new Elite controller and new Play and Charge Kit. The first thing I did was insert the battery into the controller and plug it in the xbox one to fully charge. The xbox showed the controller as charging but, I didn't
realize this until later, the amber light never came on. After charging for a few hours and the light not coming on the cable, I unplugged it and checked the charge status on the xbox. It showed to be about 2/3 charged. I tried charging for a while longer
but it never seems to get beyond 2/3 charged.

I tried using the braided cable also but the results were the same. At one point the amber light came on on the cable, but it seemed really flaky. Just messing around with the cable a bit would make it turn on and off. When I was able to get the amber light
to stay on, I tried letting it charge like that for a while, but it still would never go beyond 2/3 charged.

Unfortunately, I don't have another controller to try the battery in so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

 

I too am having issues with my elite controller and the plug and play kuts. I have used both the original and braided usb cables to try and charge with no luck.

I have resorted to charging my batteries with my original controller and swapping them to the elite controller. Or if I am with distance to my xbox having it permantly plugged in

 

After speaking to Xbox Support for a couple of hours, they have advised me to wait for the next system update as they are hoping this will fix my controller charge issue.

I have already had my controller replaced from the reseller and still had the same issue with the elite controller not charging at all with the official plug and play kit.

 

I'm just swinging back by to confirm what I'm sure the development team already knows: The system update fixed the problem, system acknowledges charge/charging state fine now.

 

So.... has this been fixed then? I'm on a chat with a rep right now who's claiming the play and charge kit isn't compatible.........

 

Well, mine has worked for several cycles since my previous post, until now. The controller died, so I plugged it in. Oddly enough, I didn't get a pop-up notification, it just turned off. After leaving it plugged in over night, it was still at a zero charge
and the indicator light was still amber (I've been using my old cable because it worked and the new one has no indicator). I took the battery pack out and put it back in, and it still seems to not be charging. I'll try the controller switch again.

 

Man that sucks.... I've just switched to eneloops currently unless they update....

 

So, I'm an idiot. I switched the battery pack to my old controller, and it was fully charged, it just was reading as dead in the Elite, for some reason. After switching it back, it's fine. BUT... I'm super smart and didn't think to check if it was updated.
It wasn't. Sooo... I'll check back with ya in a few days. Maybe I can mark this as taken care of!

 

Just checked mine again.... With the play and charge pack.... with both cables... no updates so back to eneloops for me

 

My Elite controller is not even syncing to the laptop... I just realized after gaming for a couple of days with it that I was never transitioning to wired controller when I plugged the cable in. The controller is totally dead unless I have batteries for
it. play in charge is useless if I can't charge it from the controller. gave all my spares to family.
