Elite Controller - Mapping to Paddles & Suggestions for Presets

    Hi all!

Got myself an Elite Controller a short time ago and have been loving it! Just overall a great piece of kit, even if the price tag was on the high side.

    Two questions though:

First - does anyone know of a site/board/form, etc. where we can suggest to have Microsoft create additional controller configuration presets? Right now the only ones I'm seeing when I go to adjust the controller on my Xbox One are for Halo 5, GoW Ultimate,
Forza, Sunset Overdrive....maybe 1 or 2 others. I'd really like to see a Quantum Break pre-set configuration.

Second - speaking of Quantum Break, I've been toying with creating my own configuration for the game, but am having some trouble. Basically, the game has by default Time Dash mapped to LB and Time Shield (I think I'm getting these names right?? LOL) mapped
to B. I'd LIKE my top left paddle to be Time Dash and the top right paddle to be Time Shield. But is that top left paddle on the Elite Controller permanently tied to the A button? I didn't want to change what my A button did, just what that top left paddle
    did.

I can work around it (by basically remapping the Quantum Break jump button which is A first to LB, and then LB to A/Top Left Paddle). But it'd be nice to leave A button as A button and independently map those paddles.

    :)

    Elite Controller button mapping

    Hello,

There needs to be an update for elite controller button mapping to allow direct binding of paddles, instead of having to bind them to the existing standard buttons.

    Elite Controller

I have an elite controller and I was wondering if instead of mapping the paddles to different buttons (or vice versa), could the paddles become their own independent buttons? For example I play Elite: Dangerous Horizons on Xbox One and I want to change
the controls without removing any current controls. If this is possible in the future as a Xbox update, I'm sure many players with this controller will use and purchase elite controllers for their games.

  5. It can get confusing in a hurry when you want to set up a certain button, or set of buttons, to do a certain thing.

First thing to know is... no, the paddles are not inherently tied to the OG buttons. You can map/remap them any way you see fit. Also, it's hard to think of it this way, but you technically have 4 'extra' buttons now if you use the paddles. It may not seem
that way, since no game will use more buttons than the OG controller has available. But if you think about it, you could use the paddles as your A, B, X, Y buttons and never have to touch those buttons if you like. Something to think about that can be helpful.

Maybe it will help... hope it won't make the water murkier lol, if I share my "default" button mapping setup for FPS games.

If memory serves, the standard setup (Config 1) I think, already has A B X Y mapped to the paddles. I typically leave them the way they are as long as the game has a controller setting that allows you to assign B to melee. I hate clicking the thumb sticks,
so I map the A button to the L thumb stick click and the B button to the R thumb stick click. I rarely have a problem with this... unless you get a game like Fallout 4... that uses the same thumb stick click for 2 purposes. It uses L thumb stick to sprint,
but it also uses it to 'hold breath' when you're zoomed in with a sniping weapon.

What makes it so confusing is the fact that the games give you multiple controller settings... which is nothing more than a button map preset. Then you have take that... and start thinking about how to remap.

The idea that seems to work the best for me, is when I first start playing a game, I go with the default... A B X Y mapped to the paddles. When I choose a controller configuration in the game though, I don't think about the paddles at all. I choose something
that I feel would work for me if I had to use the standard A B X Y buttons. That 'ensures' that I'll probably feel comfortable playing the game before I start remapping.

I think the best thing to do is come up with a basic plan, mine is just an example. Also, understanding that any button can be mapped to any other helps. You can even have buttons "unmapped" if memory serves.

OH, one thing you definitely need to think about. Be careful about remapping A and B. Even if you don't use them, make sure they're mapped somewhere... it can really get confusing if you have a really specific setup for a game and forget about needing A
and B to navigate the dashboard.

Lack of Controller care and innovation

I have mapped buttons to the paddles with no issues at all, with the new elite controller you can now map TV functions such as volume up and down to the controller

My Xbox elite series 2 controller paddle doesn’t register

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

I apologize for the issue you're experiencing with your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Kindly follow the steps below to try to resolve the issue:

    1. Make sure the controller is updated to the latest firmware. To do this, follow these steps:

    2. Make sure the paddles are properly attached to the controller. If the paddles are not properly attached, they may not register when pressed.

    3. Check the preset configuration for the paddles. Go to "Settings" and select "Devices & streaming," then choose "Accessories" and select your Elite Series 2 controller. From there, you can adjust the preset configuration for the paddles.

    4. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to reset the controller. To do this, follow these steps:

    - Press and hold the small sync button on the top of the controller until the Xbox button flashes.

    - Let go of the sync button.

    - Press and hold the sync button on the controller again until the Xbox button stops flashing.

If you continue to experience issues with the paddles on your Elite Series 2 controller, you may need to contact Xbox Support for further assistance.

    Elite Controller, no drivers?

The paddles on the Elite controller can only be mapped through the Xbox Accessories app on the Xbox One or Windows 10, otherwise they default to ABXY. They are mapped through the controller itself, you press a paddle on the controller, the controller then
sends the mapped command to the PC/Console. Thus they can only be mapped to duplicate other buttons on the controller and cannot be mapped to commands that are "outside" of the regular Xbox Controller inputs.

Basically they aren't an extra 4 buttons, rather an alternative 4 buttons.

Also, if they are not responding at all, try double tapping the sync button on the top of the controller. When turning the paddles off, you get 4 short bursts of vibration, when turning the paddles on, you get one longer burst of vibration.
