Elite Controller - Joystick Modules

Drift is just wear and tear on the copper contacts in the joystick module it is not only Xbox controllers that do it. I have been repairing arcade joysticks since the early 90s for this same issue. sadly it just happens... even to my elite controller and
if you are out of warranty and are tech savvy a quick google or youtube search will show you how and where to install new joystick modules.

It sounds like you have the same problem I experienced with my Elite controller. There is a control module that senses the position of the joystick and I'm learning online the Microsoft Xbox controllers are notorious for these modules failing. Depending
on the severity, it can make the controller no longer usable. My call just now with Microsoft support ended with, "Please post your problem to the forum as your controller is no longer under warranty." It is less than a year old and now I have a $150 paper
weight.....

Unfortunately the Elite controllers have a major issue of stick drift developing. Particularly on the left joystick. Even mine failed after just a year. Officially, setting the response curve to Instant in the the Accessory App helps a bit or sending in your old one for a new controller at a slightly discounted price. Unofficially, I did have some luck extending the life out on mine by using the program 'reWASD' to better fine tune deadzones and such. Unless you are knowledgeable with soldering, I dont recommend replacing the entire Joystick module as you will likely just brick the controller entirely.
