Elite Controller is lower quality than standard

I've owned the Elite controller for exactly 3 months tomorrow. On Friday (9/16/16) i noticed the right bumper was mushy. As in it no longer clicked when pressed. Tryed to play last night (9/18/16) and the right bumper is now hanging off. I just spent 2 hours
in chat with support and although there is a 90 day warranty on the Elite Controller they do not have a replacement option for the controller. Why is there a warranty then? Here is the reference number

If you are in the market for an Elite controller I would wait a could years. There is a huge design flaw in the controller.

The normal controllers bumpers are independent of each other however the Elite has its bumpers connected by a strip of plastic. Once that breaks you are out of luck. Look on the forums and else where on the net. the controller lasts about 4 to
6 months before your bumpers break or stick drift or some other other problem arises. In 11 years on Xbox I have never had a controller break until I spent $150 on a "Elite Pro" controller.

would love an elite a friend has one and the customization and build quality are superb. the standard controller is quite nice much better than 360 which was a great controller itself. i like these upgrades but will wait to order a custom painted controller
or elite next

 

Buy a warranty with your Elite Controller!!

The analog stick mechanism on the standard and Elite One controller is much smaller than the 360 controller mechanism and is prone to the internal clips coming loose. The build quality of the One's controller components should be much better.

 

Same for me. Just with the left bumper. Support was absolutely no help and pretty much reiterated your point exactly. You are out of luck; go buy a new one. Or ask whether Best Buy (original place or purchase) would be willing to replace it. Because you
know, it was Best Buy's fault they sold a crappy controller.

I don't have an issue with things breaking. But seeing I really don't play a ton, and take pretty good care of my electronics, a 3 month warranty just seems absurd. Especially if they provide a 1 year warranty if I would have bought the controller as part
of the Elite Xbox package. And to not even provide a path to fix these expensive, supposedly longlasting controllers is bad practice as well.
