elite controller high pitched whine in vibration motor

just bought elite bundle a few days ago and the controller is already bad read other posts about returning to retailer but my local gamestop has no more so I spent 500 dollars on this system I hope it can be resolved quickly. the whine is so high pitched
and loud you can hear it in the next room it is driving me crazy I may take whole system back for a refund and go back to my old xboxone which I was still using original controller that had absolutely no problems at all

High Pitched Whine

New XBOX 360 Elite has a loud high pitched whine when the system is off. I've updated to the most recent software version but appears to be hardware(coil) related.

If there is another active thread please move this post, as all the others I foundseemed to be closed.

Noisy USB line.

Rereading your post, it could also very well be something known as "coil whine", and there's nothing you can do about it. It's just the way your controller is. If it's the controller and only the controller, then that's what it is. Controllers have no fans
inside, if your console isn't making any noises when the controller is not plugged in, I can just assume that it's coil whine. Besides, fans make a grinding sound rather than a high pitched whine when they're failing.

Definitely a strange sound to be hearing from your controller and definitely not normal. If it's a constant noise I definitely recommend either an exchange at the retailer you purchased from. If they don't have any available for an exchange your next best
option is to set up a repair/replacement over on our
Online Service Center.

Definitely want you to have a fully functioning controller ASAP. Really sorry to hear this is happening for you.

The sound starts when the motors first engage and is audible at every intensity, especially at lower power levels. The sound is a high pitched whine that stays at the same frequency no matter how fast the motor spins. Sounds almost like morse code or coil whine. The sound does not appear when vibration is turned off, but I don't consider that a solution to the problem.

Apart from the rumble/force feedback motors in the controller there is noting that can or should make any sound, Can you try launching the Xbox Accessories app on your console and then disable controller vibrations to see if this stops the noise. Also please
be aware that the console itself by default is set to chime when you switch it on/off and eject a disc and you might be hearing this noise.

If disabling the vibrations does stop the high pitch noise then the controller will need to be
sent for repair please note it is not advisable to attempt repairs of the controller yourself as this will void any warranty on it.

Controller vibration is not that bad at all... it barely shakes beyond a level just high enough to alert you. If it bothers you that much you could always just take the motors out...

That or play BF4 on the PC. A mouse doesn't vibrate.

this sounds a lot like coil whine. It's not exactly a concern but it can be annoying. is the noise high pitched?
