    Elite 2 controller battery won't charge


    Hi everyone,

    The battery of my Elite 2 controller is not being charged anymore. I play on a computer that has a wired controller. The battery has a lifespan of approximately 20 to 50 minutes. I tried to replace the internal battery, but it lasted the same time.



    I tried different cables and tried charging through a USB cable or charging station for even 8 hours.



    It could be something related to the charger station? Is there anything inside the controller that could be causing it? Playing with the controller via wire should allow me to play and power the controller, right?



    I have owned this controller for a year but is out of warranty. What options do I have?

    Hi,

    I u understand that the Series X controller will be using a USB C connector to charge the battery (same as the Elite 2 controller), so charging stations that use micro USB won't work.

    As far as the controller charging.. I don't believe any controller does this except the Elite 2 control. I could be wrong on this.
    If you wanted to charge the controller, you would need to use the Play & Charge kit that consists of a rechargeable battery and a usb charging cable.

    I have been using the regular reachargable AA batteries that come with the wireless x1 elite controller. It isnt the play and charge kit.[...]
    The AA Batteries that came with my Elite controller are NON-rechargeable Duracell batteries.

    If you are using rechargeable AA batteries, they will also NOT charge through the USB cable.

    Only the specific battery pack of the Play and Charge kit can be charged via USB. If you look into the battery compartment, between the battery contacts, you should see three "golden" contacts. These are for the Play and Charge battery pack, and only those
    contacts provide the charging capacity for the Play and Charge battery pack. No charging current is sent to the AA battery contacts, as the controller can't know if you inserted standard non-rechargeable AA batteries (which might explode if charged), or if
    you are using rechargeable AA batteries.

    Therefore it's not possible to charge AA batteries inside any Xbox One controller.

    My Elite suddenly won't hold a charge for either the official battery pack or Eneloops - there are some suggestions the braided cable gives out but that thing hardly gets any wear

    If you have batteries it should be working. You can also use the usb cable to play if your batteries are dead. I always use rechargeable batteries. That way It is a simple swap of batteries and no need for cables.

    As far as the controller charging.. I don't believe any controller does this except the Elite 2 control. I could be wrong on this.
