Elevated HDR black levels on Xbox One X

Just received my Xbox One X yesterday and have found that when playing back video based HDR material, the black levels are elevated severely. I have confirmed this with an industry standard HDR calibration disc. Game based HDR material plays just fine. It
appears when playing back video based HDR material either via the Blu-ray app or other 3rd party apps (like Netflix), the Xbox One X is outputting black level at 0 instead of 64. Changing video settings does not fix it, nor does changing HDMI cables. For comparison,
HDR black level of the same material being tested playback just fine on my Xbox One S. Also, this issue is being reported by multiple users over on the AVS Forums.

I have a reference number from Xbox Chat Support, 1403750073, detailing this issue further. I hope a simple patch can be released as UHD HDR video material is a big use for the console for many people.

    Thank you

    :)

  3. HDR Elevated Black Levels

I’m on the Omega Preview ring (omega is issued updates very soon before they hit general public and is easy for anyone to join). I received an update last night and it appears all HDR Black levels are fixed for Blu-Ray, Amazon HDR,
etc. However that pesky Netflix “always-on” HDR issue still persists, but that’s a different story. So if it hasn’t already I would think this should be pushed out to public very soon!

  5. I'm in the process of looking into a new TV, and hearing issues like this is pretty worrying. I realise it's a new console, but surely making sure your major apps, like Netflix and the bluray player work correctly when you're pushing the console on these
exact features, would be a priority? Hopefully they'll be fixed very soon.

  7. Found this .... Seems like the bad black level issue is fixed.. just some issue with colour reproduction now. Hopefully that can get sorted as well.
