Elder Scrolls V Anniversary Edition for (PC) no longer working

Thanks Kathy, for your previous response. I tried all of your recommendations, that were applicable to my environment, to no avail.

FYI! My environment is an HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15 (laptop). Configured as follows: Processor – i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz; RAM – 16.0 GB; System 64-bit; Display Adapters – Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (built in), & NVIDIA GeForce MX150 (installed); OS – Windows 10 (build 19043.1415). With a PowerA xBox controller. All drivers are up to date.

Please note that Skyrim SE (PC) ran successfully on this laptop for about 9 months. Only, recently began to fail. At that time, launching a new game would work, but continuing a saved game would fail. Upon failure system says it’s “Entering Power Save” mode.

When Skyrim Anniversary Edition (AE) became available a couple of weeks ago, I purchased and installed the UPGRADE to Special Edition @ $19.99US. It worked fine for about two weeks then it failed in same manner. Except, now even launching NEW games fail in same manner. I’ve uninstalled both. Did clean reinstall of SE, to no avail. Then also reinstalled AE (upgrade), to no avail.

FYI: I bit the bullet!!! $29.99US Just purchased Skyrim Anniversary Edition again. This time I used my “Windows 10 Xbox Console Companion”, and purchased the full edition (not upgrade, no SE required). I did a clean install of that, so there are no saved games to try, but launching NEW games fails in exactly the same manner.

I don't mind buying my way out of trouble! However, I don't play enough games to justify the purchase of an xbox or playstation, so its my very capable laptop or nothing. I know nothing’s perfect, but I expected better out of a game I’ve come to love.

Thank you for providing additional information, we know how eager you are in playing the Elder Scrolls V Special and Anniversary Edition. For now, to help you get back to playing, we will try to provide troubleshooting related to the Windows and if any case, this is an issue with the game, we will provide you the link to contact the game support.

I believe you have gone through the steps we provided at the first post the removing Mods, turning off antivirus, antimalware etc., and play offline and go back online. First, kindly check and perform (if applicable) this support article from the game support on how to fix issues of saving the game - What do I do if I'm getting the error "Save / Load operation failed" when trying to save the game in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC? - Bethesda Support.

After, make sure that the game folder is accessible with admin privileges. Locate the game folder by searching Skyrim (or Elder Scrolls V) on Windows search bar and right click on the game. Select Open file location. Go one/two main folder before the file location of the game, right click then select properties choose Security and advanced. Modify permissions and set it to admin and select Ok to save changes. Also, try to run Skyrim as administrator before launching it. See if this works.
