Elder Scrolls: Online

After the news of the delay and info that we could transfer our characters from PC back to console I decided to buy it on PC.

Early days yet but love just going off exploring and getting lost within the game.

Ah well at least there is a deal in place and some structure to it. Beats handing out a game and then working out they needed 6 months. That would of been a pain! Xbox.com still says July though :/ they need to update.

 

I've put a fair few hours into this so far. A few niggles and bugs but overall I'm really enjoying it.

I think like I've seen others say, on PC there's stiff competition for games like this but I'd imagine it will be very popular on console.

 

Is the polish up the real reason for the delay and the crossover deal is a joke

 

^ According the last update from the developers the reason seems to be to do with the online,

"We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s
networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process. It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible. Though we have made great progress,
we have concluded that we’ll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve."

 

I may try this game, but I find having the time to play an MMO is almost impossible. An playing for an hour a week just isn't going to work for an MMO.

 

I wouldn't say it wont work. I would say it would be a waste of money (in my opinion) to spend an extra £100 a year for what, 50ish hours of game play at an hour a week? On top of the cost of the game itself.

 

I'm still really enjoying it on PC, like I said before, a few odd niggles but overall very good.

I can see why loads will be put off by the monthly subs but as my lovely wife often says to me, "**** you have more money than sense"

I might try to make the extra effort and put some time into this game when released.

 

Well you get a free month so there is that to test the waters. I'm not telling you what to do but if it was me, I wouldn't invest or even think about it, unless I was going to clock a fair bit of time into it.

Lofty, you enjoying it on PC then eh? Is it worth the cost of the sub would you say or is it too early to tell mate?

Probably a bit too early to tell mate. So far there's plenty to do so I'm more than happy, just depends on how much content it will get over the months/years to come.

 

Good to hear mate. I hope you get free expansions and such. It would suck if you get charged for DLC on top of 2 subs :/

 

Nah Cloud, the point of the Subs are to cover the cost of expansions, etc....
